What do you think about grab bags?

When I was young I loved going places and getting grab bags. They were always in a brown paper bag and cost $1. There was a surprise inside and on the outside it said for a boy or for a girl. The surprise inside was never very good. I always thought darn I wish I had picked a different bag. One year I was having a yard sale and had a ton of little toys and things like that. I got out gift bags that I had been given for birthdays and my baby shower and things like that and filled them with toys. I priced them anywhere from 25 cents for very small bags to $1 for real big ones. They were a huge hit. People came and bought about 4 at a time. I sold about $30 worth of grab bags that year.

HI Shaggin Been a while we saw any discussion from you (or maybe I missed as I still dont have Internet at home and at the cafe it is mostly a chat session with my client). When I was a kid, there were certain occasions when one could expect those "Grab Bags" mostly they had candies, or mints or quite simple toys for kids. Today, these have become ancient and rare. I see them much commercialized these days and only on special occasions (like the new year eve parties or other festivities), when restaurants, pubs etc will offer them and that too you will try your luck only in case you reserve a seat

I really havent thought up any discussions to write about on here. I've spend a large majority of my online time on gather. I come on here and comment on new discussions but mostly I just do that since I dont have any ideas for discussions. Seeing as I have done the grab bags for my yard sale in about 4 years I'm surprised the idea for this discussios came to me.

I think there was some version of that at a corner store when I was a kid. I don't remember any dollar stores then, so these toys which we normally now see at dollar stores were the ones in grab bags. Or I think it was more like boxes back then. That's an exciting idea for yardsales. It's a big hit with kids going with their parents on yardsales.

Grab bags are fun! It is the thrill of getting a surprise for a small price. What a great idea!
