A lot of my friends are suggesting to me to have the fruit diet if i want to lose weight easily. They didn't specify what kind of fruits though but they keep on telling me that it is really effective.
I've been tempted to start it but I'm just curious if this thing is safe. I need pieces of advice here guys... thanks

Losing weight with just eating fruits is not a safe weight loss method because you are missing out on nutrients from other food groups. In addition, diets that concentrate on eating one food group are usually very unsuccessful because the weight comes back when you go back to your former eating habits. I would recommend going to www.mypyramid.gov where you can set up an eating plan designed for weight loss. All you have to do is enter your age, gender, and activity level and it will give you a complete menu.

There is nothing wrong with eating lots of fruits. But to be healthy you need all your food groups. Weight gain or obesity often results from eating too much starchy foods, less vegetables and fruits, drinking less water and engaging in no daily exercise.
To trim down and stay healthy, you actually should eat all of your food groups, but less of your starch. There is an article titled "Think Healthy" from link on my profile that you can use for starter. Good-luck!

Well, the fruit diet is probably a lot healthier than most diets, but doing a fruit diet is not what you need. You have a food pyramid that tells you what you need in a day that will keep you healthy. A fruit diet can't do that for you. You also need vegetables, meat, grains, etc. When you loose weight on a fruit diet, it's not because you are "eating healthy" it's because you are starving yourself of your nutrients that you need.
