Hi! Does anyone know what are the side effects of L carnitine are? I hear it's a good supplement for weight management. What else do I need to know besides the good aspects? Will there be any adverse effects on interaction with vitamin E or vitamin C? I've read somewhere that it helps to metabolize fats while one is doing physical activity. Why is it that we have to cut down intake of carbohydrates by 50%?

side effects of L-carnitine include vomiting, restlessness, diarrhea, headache, nausea, stuffy nose.. you also have to take less L-carnitine when you have hypertension, since it has the ability to increase your blood pressure, you should not take it when you have low or border line thyroid levels as it may impair the action of your thyroid hormones.taking vitamin E is good but it should not be more than 400 IU since it is toxic,so i better recommend vitamin C since excess vitamin C will just be eliminated from the body without bringing harm.in taking vitamin C,make sure you don't have hyperacidity.if you do, take sodium ascorbate.you can actually buy it in the market just like those common vitamins.hope these informations help you.if you hav any questions, you are free to ask me back.
GOOD DAY KARAGALA! :)

sorry for the late response.. anyways,
l-carnitine is a good anti-oxidant and eliminating free radicals on the veins to let the blood flow so smoothly and could elevate blood pressure but could not cause hypertension. you're hypertension could get to worse. yes, it lowers cholesterol. as for the coffee issue, coffee is a buster, a stimulant. the mechanism of action is to keep you awake, so inorder to do that, your coffee signals your brain not to sleep and your brain signals your circulatory system to let your blood flow like crazy. so it doesn't help that much to the heart because of so much work load. compare to your L-carnitine, they act slowly.

How do you take it? I take it 500 mg first thing in the morning and then I take a bath - given 30 mins - then I eat breakfast. I do exercise 1 hour on the stepper everyday and I cut down my carbohydrates intake by 50%. In less than a week I've noticed some changes. I'd like to know why it doesn't work for you.
