My husband had a terrible toothache just now that lasted for an hour. He did everything to ease the pain, took pain reliever, brushed his teeth and gargle warm water with salt yet they seem to not conquer the pain at all. And so, I googled what would be the best remedy. You know what I found? CUCUMBER! I chopped little portions of it and put it around the infected tooth and in just a few seconds the pain was gone! Thank God. Now the next thing we have to do is visit the dentist. ;)

The best herbal remedy is sage. It will reduce the swelling. Second best is clove. Next time ask your husband to put clove on tooth and bite it hard. Some dentists use clove to heal the infection.

OMG cucumber! I’ve tried out garlic and guava leaves and they do seem to work upto a certain point but cucumber is something I’ve never heard of before. How does it work? Maybe it cools the inflammation around the infected tooth. Anyway, what’s important is that your hubby found instant relief and we have another remedy which is available at home most of the times.

I had never heard of that! Cloves, salt water, yes, but not cucumber. I have false teeth now so don't have to worry about that, but there was a time when it would have really helped. I'll let my daughter know.

Hi ronadelle! What's in the cucumber that made the pain go away? Did it numb the tooth or something? I have never imagined that this could be used in toothache! If I had known I would have used it before! I used to get toothache a lot. Maybe I'll try that when my nephew experiences toothache again. So you just chopped the cucumber? And then put it around the tooth? Or how?

Yes secretbear! just chop little portions of it good enough to fit the part to where a tooth is aching. Just let it stay there and you'll know soon enough that the pain's soothing. ;) This is also recommended for headaches!

hi dear friend, it is a very good tip and thank you for that. i am having a baby and she is three and a half year old. she suffers a lot with toothache problems. so what i do is, i take a little bit of mustard oil, heat it up and allow it to cool. then add some rock salt and rub it on that area. she gets immediate relief. one day when she was going to her gymnastic class, she had that toothache, i at once applied that oil, in fact massaged her and made her rinse it very nicely. then she had no pain. otherwise she was not wanting to go. then in the night she is basically on only fruit diet. she hardly eats. so , thank GOD, things worked. but your one is very good and much more easy.

Nice sharecause it's a natural remedy, most people here only know Ponstan or Mefenamic acid to kill pain right away, at least the knowledge may come in handy.

Thanks for this piece of good info. I have used cloves that has given instant relief. But whatever home remedies we do gives us immediate relief and we should not carry on with our problems and is better to see the dentist asap as we can get permanent remedy, right?
