I was with Darwin a friend of mine from way back in the Seminary last night. We had a great conversation catching up with each other. 6 months ago he was promoted as a Quality Assurance Analyst, one of the cushiest jobs you'll find in any call center. Basically, what you will be doing is listen to calls and then coach the agents on their strong points. You will also point out the area for improvement to ensure more consistent calls in the future. He's a very smart guy although you wouldn't think that at first glance if you met him. I guess you could say he's just like Henry McCoy of the X-Men. (Can anyone tell me who he is? hahaha this question is for comics fanatics.) He has the body of a wrestler and hairier than I am. But his true asset is the brain inside his head. His head is bigger than mine, so naturally, he has a bigger brain. And his attitude towards studies and work is much more focused than mine. Smarter, bigger and stronger. That's my friend Darwin. We've kept in contact over the Internet and over the phone throughout the years and often don't see each other for months on end. I was in Las Pinas which is very near his place so we agreed to meet at a gas station to talk even if it was 1AM! Our conversation started out like normal a couple of Hellos and on to the questions about what we were doing. Through the course of our talk, I noticed how much he had changed, from being a very driven sales person to a somewhat complacent and mildly disgruntled employee. So we started talking about it. And a torrent of issues burst forth. His initial dream to become a doctor was replaced by the necessity to earn for his family. He had scrapped his dreams of ever becoming one. So I challenged him to look into the future and see what he'd be doing then. In the end, he resolved to earning an MBA and become a doctor no matter how long it took. Because as a doctor and with an MBA, he'd be able to give his family the life they deserve. I'm not saying being a QA Analyst is bad, but you have to aspire to become more than that. We as people will never be content unless we achieve that which we have dreamed for so long. So never forget the initial dreams you had as a kid for that is the foundation of who you will become in the future. The changes we encounter in life builds character, and there will be times when you have to take a gamble in order to achieve greater things. epilogue: He stated that I too have changed, from being the impatient young man always ready to brawl, into someone who shares knowledge. Like the teachers I used to hate and throw chairs at hahaha

Changes certainly will occur many times in our life. Your initial dream won't necessarily be your main goal. That's your initial idea of what you wanna become but as you grow, you gather information about the world and this changes your initial idea of what you dream of becoming.

I think it is great to have friends you have seen go through changes down through the years. I have one long time BFF that chats with me on Facebook nearly nightly. I am glad you did talk your friend into getting his MBA. It is sad when people do not do and be what they are meant to be.

It's not always easy to stick to a dream that you aspire to as child. Remember as you grow in life you come across different people and environment that influence your life. So your friend could have been a different person when you met again because the new people and environment that he met could have had an influence in his life. Remember you can also develop a new dream that will make you change your previous dream. But it is good that you were the for your friend and gave him courege, you are a true friend indeed
