So, what is happiness anyway?

everyone wants to be happy.. every single person you ask what it is that they want fromtheir life, they always say that they want to be happy and that it is important to be happy... but then what is it anyway? what do we want from the happiness... will we ever want more if we already get the happiness that we want? I mean, is it not that happiness is not permanent and you can be happy now but really sad the next time. happiness is not like a stable thing... i think!

Happiness is a fleeting feeling. Nonetheless, I believe it's possible to choose to be happy no matter what our outward circumstances may be.

thankyou for your response. i agree.. well it can really be our choice.. but then sometimes, we just are not in the position to be happy, we are just forced to swallow the loneliness.

Happiness is the feeling when someone is satisfied with his/her life. Different people have different level of happiness. Money may make one person Happy but for the other, money would not even be a factor for their happiness. Others are happy just being with their love ones and family. While other are happy when they have fulfilled the goals that they have set in their lives. So it is the person involve who can justify what happiness is.

I guess that is precisely correct, we all have different definitions and factors that would make us happy. my brother would be happy with a new video game while i would be happy if i get to be outside with my friends... some people would be happy with shopping, others when they are with their parents, or children. thank you for your response! =)

I agree, happiness is really not a permanent feeling. You can't be happy when you lose someone so important in your life and you also won't be happy if you lose your job. WE only want to feel this emotion to lessen up the burden we feel and to somewhat lighten our day. I am happy even if I have so many problems and issues in life. You know why? Because I don't think of all the problems I have every single minute of the day. I lift up everything to God and accept all the things and challenges he gives me.

I think that in order for the average able thinking and emotional person to experience moments of happiness, there must be denial. When we realize how bad or how worse things could be, we allow ourselves to feel contempt or satisfied for ourselves, the people, and things that we cherish in our lives. True happiness I think can only be known by those who think less, and are obliviouse to the sufferings of life. Knowing, and being aware of the world ourside our own, makes it difficult to mantain a state of happiness for very long.

hello, Yes, I agree happiness is not permanent because usually when I feel happy when I am with my boyfriend, family or friend but it still come up that I feel like I am sad and not that happy at all. Well, I am not pretending to be happy but that's how it work for me. It is not stable.

I believe we have the power to make ourselves happy. It's up to us how long it last. Being content in any given moment to me is happiness.

Exactly, Well Said. But sometimes there can always be external factors causing us to think of what our life can be and sometimes too much thinking causes us to be unhappy as well.

HAPPINESS ..... it is all the more a relative phenomenon. It is what you make it in life. You can make a hell or heaven out of it.

happiness for me is my children. it's when i see them laughing and entertaining one another. it's when you see them respectful to others, when they are grateful with the sacrifices of their parents to make their lives better.
