I've seen clashes among countries sharing borders lots of times. Some say that it's better to be a separate island not sharing borders with other countries like the Philippines, but the way I see it, we still have conflicts with other countries, like the Spratly's for example. It's still border conflict on the South China Sea. What's worse with this country is that it's composed of smaller islands physically separated from each other hence people are also not united. They have different dialects and Filipinos tend to be regionalistic than nationalistic. Few bridges however have been built like the San Juanico Bridge for example that connects Leyte and Samar and the Mactan Bridge and Marcelo Fernan Bridge that connects Cebu and Mactan Islands. Before that people may have traveled to and fro these islands by small boats. I wish the government can build more bridges like San Juanico so we can at least be united in terms of physical bridges then we build unity among the people from those bridges.

Wherever two or more people are involved, there is bound to be conflict. My advice to border conflict is fences. I advocate working with all nations around your nation and beyond, make business dealings easy, but define your borders and put up fences! Fences have always made good neighbors.
