What's the best way to fall asleep?

Sometimes I woke up at around 1AM and i can no longer sleep. I've tried drinking hot milk, listening to a relaxing music and even counting sheeps, but none of them works. Do you know an effective way of falling back asleep, as much as possible the natural way or without the use of medicine.

Maybe you can knock your head to the wall? Just kidding. Do you have a sleeping disorder? Whenever I can't sleep I just stay in bed and close my eyes and wait til I fall sleep. I often think of anything, daydream, contemplate something, or whatever just waiting for sleep to come. Maybe you can try reading a boring book. ^^ Sometimes, when I study and read my handouts, I feel sleepy.

I guess I'll try knocking my head sometimes. Lol. But no, i don't have a sleeping disorder. It doesn't happen all the time, just during the times when I wake up involuntarily like if our neighbors are noisy. Based on the answers, books are the best sleeping pill, I'll try it too. Thanks!

Make sure you're not wearing a helmet when you do or else it won't work.

My most effective way to fall asleep happens when my wife nags at me. I don't know hy, but it really works. I get sleepy when she starts.

Great. I would love to give you the best answer for that. Unfortunately, my wife doesn't nag me to sleep. Good on you, though!

I fall asleep easily, but I wake up in the night, too, and can't go back to sleep. Sometimes if I get up and do something (like come to myLot!) for awhile, I'll feel myself getting drowsy and can go back to sleep. Other times my mind is whirling with things I need to do, so I get a pencil and paper and list everything I can think of, then I can usually fall asleep with a clear mind. Still other times, I realize that I have vague aches and pains or just feel uncomfortable. In that case, I will sometimes get an extra blanket and make myself a little warmer than usual then my muscles start to relax. Other times I just have to take something for pain or an antihistamine because part of my problem is allergies. I try not to use antihistamine very often, though.

That's what usually happens to me. There are a lot of ideas running in my head. I've tried writing it but whenever I do, new ideas or thoughts are coming in.

I do not know what is happening on you why are you not getting back to sleep once you woke up. Anyway, for sure you are not the only one suffering from that. I think we can associate that to insomia. There are sleeping pills available in the market so that when you sleep, you will sleep continously. You do not have to wake up in the middle of the night and find it hard to get back to sleep. Moreover, maybe you are thinking before you sleep. It happens to me many times, it is hard to sleep no matter how many times I tried. Then when I put myself to sleep, in the middle of the night I will wake up and it is hard to sleep again. Maybe because my brain is still working while I am sleeping that puts me to be awake in the middle of the night. In addition, when you sleep and you suddenly woke up, do not move a lot, just maintain to be lying down so that you can go back to sleeping stage again that easy.

When I can't sleep, I just get up and go back on the internet. If it is not working, I might read or do some kind of craft project. I avoid using medicines for the most part because I already have to take some for other conditions and I think it would be better to engage in some kind of activity until I can sleep again. I hope that hasn't happened too many times. Have a great week!!!

Sleep - Sleeping well and good
Avoid any strenuous activities before bedtime. You must be relaxed and don't ever go to bed late. Enjoy your bed. Be there early and listen to good soothing inspirational music not loud and hard rock sounds. Finally pray, talk to God and do it as if He is just beside you.Pray long and without you knowing it you have already fallen into deep slumber and goodly at. I've been doing that with successful result. If you need more details on this then go to this link http://healthmad.com/conditions-and-diseases/very-effective-cure-for-insomnia/

If one cannot fall asleep no matter how hard one tries, then it is best to do the opposite and see how long you can stay awake for whilst stilling all the thoughts in the mind. This is a form of Zen meditation that I use. As the mind becomes still, the body becomes still, and then suddenly sleep comes without effort, because to use any form of effort will keep you awake! _Derek

Just last night my hubby's friend told my friend who can't sleep easily to just massage her arms tenderly for about 15min., changing both arms. However I not do it yet because I fall asleep easily.

Do not go to bed hungry. Have a glass of warm milk and take your Calcium supplement. For a truly relaxing sound sleep, take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with honey. Relaxing music helps a lot, too. These things really works for me. Good luck, stuckonu.

Whenever i feel that way, i would put on a small pillow over my husband's eyes and switch on the lampshade . Then i would get the bible on the table and read. In a while, i would already be too sleepy and get back to sleep. In your case, you can read a book. Just do it while lying down.

I am a very light sleeper, so a slight noise would wake me up immediately and then it takes me around an hour just to fall fast asleep again. I hate being a light sleeper, I can never take naps in the day, I can only sleep at night. When I was a kid and I couldn't sleep at all, I would cry myself to sleep. It actually helps because crying really drained me out and I'll be knocked out cold after a few minutes. Now though, when I can't sleep, I try to find the most comfortable position and just lay there and I imagine things. So mentally with my eyes closed, I would imagine something like a story in my head and I'll continue the story until I fall asleep. So it's like reading a book using your imagination.

Try getting up and writing about something or maybe reading for an hour. That or use my go to trick for kids, watch the most boring thing you can think of, lol. Last week we were trying to put the kids down for bed and they just would not go to sleep so I flipped to one of the learning channels and within a few minutes they were out. So cute... I use this method myself like put on an old black and white movie or something.

I think it would be better if you gotta ask the doctor and have an advice on how to go back to sleep in a natural way.But I think it would be better if you take vitamins.

Try not to watch television before you go to sleep or have any bright lights on. Also try not to worry about having to wake up at 1am and how you will get back to sleep because that actually makes it worse. They say that thinkers are the worst sleepers. So when trying to go back to sleep try not to think about anything. I have the same problem sometimes. Some methods workfor me others don't. Everyone has their own ways ..hopefully you find yours. Oh ya what really helps me s drinking warm tea before I go to sleep. Anyways like I was saying sometimes I have the same problem. I wake up at 1am and dont go to sleep till like 3. This usually happens when I have something important the next day or something stressful happened that day. So try to relax throughout your day. But if it starts to become more frequently then you should talk to a doctor because sleep is really important. Good luck :)

My suggestion is just relax yourself and don't look to the clock, because it will make you harder to sleep again. Try to read boring book that you have to read, like lesson book or homework paper :) I usually do that. So, if I can't sleep at night, I study for school :). It always effective, because the book or homework makes me sleepy in a minute.

Whenever I cant sleep, I try not to think of anything. I move side to side until I find the comfortable side I want to sleep in. And sometimes, I count 1-100. It works to do this.! :)

Drink two glasses of orange juice with 1 tablespoon honey for sound sleep. However, if you have a tiring day then you will automatically have a very deep sleep. So, try doing some exercises during the day.
