I saw this film 10 years ago when I'm still so much into love. I can say that being a family man now, my view of love was not as naive as it was before. But whenever I see this film or even clips of it, I can still recall the wonderful feeling of being in love during my younger years, not to mention my ex whom I met working in a fast food chain. What does this movie reminds you of?

This is one love story worth seeing , one in which you cannot say "corny".
I remembered getting so angry with the villain who is really bent in having Nicole Kidman for himself. How i liked that movie indeed. A very touching love story.
Though, i watched it through a DVD i bought and husband not wanting to watch it, saying it's corny 'coz it's a love story.

Actually, when I first entered the cinema house, I thought it was a commercial not the actual movie (because I haven't seen a musical movie before). My first impression was that "this will be a corny one" but when I've watched the whole lot, I was impressed. First impression never last. :)

Even though this movie has received a lot of criticism over the years and there is a debate about how it's not actually a musical etc etc. I have always been fascinated by it. I had the cd and would listen to the soundtrack over and over, when hearing the songs I can normally picture the movie in my mind. The story of undying love, the extreme structure of the story though unrealistic is beautifully done. The fact that it follows the same line as the other Baz Luhrmann movies, Romeo & Juliet, Strictly ballroom and Australia dealt with love against all odds, they are more or less successful in their treatment of their respective stories and are always entertaining which makes my all the more anxious to see his treatment of the Great Gatsby another story of undying love.

Actually, it reminds me of college when I first watched it. One of my roommates was obsessed with Ewan McGregor, and a couple of my theater friends loved the soundtrack. I did, too, and still do. So it brings back a lot of memories of trying new things for the first time, including absinthe at one of our cast parties (which did not have the same effect as it did for the characters in the movie. I don't think they make it the same way anymore).
