Im quite a fan of the reality TV show Biggest Loser. A couple of months ago Biggest Loser PH edition was launched and I was able to watch most of the episodes. Episode after episode, I marvel on how much they lose every week and how much change it have implied on them. Not only in the physical aspect but also w/ their personality, confidence, etc. I think losing weight isn't just about wearing fashionable clothes or being fit and sexy but it also gives you a chance to regain yourself and live a new and healthy life.

they are lucky to be a part of this program i suppose. having two good trainers and being under a strict diet discipline. having people around you who actually understands you is truly a different thing.

I was inspired by The Biggest Loser.. this is the only TV show that told me that I still have a chance to change my life. I was 140+kg back there and I was a little embarrassed going outside cause I've never been called by my name.. well some call me by name but that's really RARE. I always picked on and saying I'm a PIG... but then I watched this show, I saw how people are losing weight telling me that there is still a chance to redo my life. So I started exercising and eating less like they do. Now, I'm only 98kg. I can wear clothes that I cant back when I was a PIG. I may still look big but now they respect me for who I am, and I don't look obese anymore. I can run a mile now.. and I feel better than before. I don't sweat too much. :D I give my thanks to this show, really. Because of them, it made me realize that I can change myself. I'm still trying to lose some weight but my life today is better, I can now act by myself in public and I now have friends :)

I'm a big fan of the show also. It also amazes me how quickly they can lose weight. What I don't get is...where does all the loose skin go after they are finished dieting? When they show them at the end of the show, where they compete then for the final prizes, they come on the stage and they have no loose skin hanging all over. I lost 50 pounds in about a year and I have loose skin hanging all over. My loose skin fills up my pants in the front. It looks like I have a big tummy. I am lucky that I don't have that hanging part under my arms...two of my sisters do...and it's ugly. But I do have a lot of loose skin at my belly and my love handles. It isn't fat anymore, but just loose skin that hangs down. Only way to get rid of it is to have surgery. And I only lost 50 pounds, imagine if I lost 200 pounds like some of these people did. The drama that goes with the show is all part of losing weight. You have to remember for these people to get so big they don't live normal lives, they have very emotional problems or they wouldn't have gotten that big in the first place. So to get rid of the weight, they have to get rid of the problems. Cheers and happy mylotting, Chris

hi! re the loose skin, yeah they dont seem to have much, though I noticed the girl contestant's arms they have (a little) saggy skin under but not much. maybe because of their work out. they tend to build muscles too once they reach their desired weight. wow! 50pounds is a lot (envy). :) anyway, you can maybe ask an expert about it or maybe try some muscle forming exercise? Im not really sure about that, sorry. yes, Im quite aware that most overweight people suffered emotional depression and that they resolved to wrong eating habits and that's the reason why they were overweight. I myself has gotten thru that stage. though im now over it, I havent lose much. goodluck!:)

Oh wow I almost forgot about this show. I use to watch diligently when Jillian Michaels was on the show. She has been sort of my mentor in living in very healthy lifestyle. Actually I did buy her stationary bike and her voice controls my pedals. I absolutely loved her on the show, as although we did not see the behind the scenes major struggles people really under go on the show we did get a glimpse of how much they struggle to really make lifestyle eating habit changes.

hi girl! im really not aware about jillian michaels, but i can relate w/ what you've said. I seldom watch international shows as we still need to subscribe to cable providers to be able to avail that, anyway was referring to the Filipino edition but the concept is the same. and you are right, they struggled at first, but somehow managed to overcome those.

I've seen Angela in FF Megamall. Angela is the girl who wants to get pregnant but cannot due to her obese situation. She is ovulating now. She looks gorgeous in person by the way!

I guess the reason why ones obesity can hinder one's possibity to get pregnant is that the fats are covering up the way for her to get preggy.That's why we should take good care of our health.

yup, Angela is really a strong contestant there, maybe because she has a huge goal and that is to ovulate. it's sad that one's obesity can affect the possibilities of having a baby, glad she overcome that. yes,the girl contestants are really pretty i think.

I like the Biggest Loser. The only thing I don't like about the shows is the drama among the contestant. Instead of trying to losing weight fair and square, the try to play mind game. It also lead to back stabbing among them. Other thing like how they manage to lose their weight and do something that I cannot even do is something that really amazed me.

you are absolutely correct on that! I really hate it too when other contestants give their poor life as a reason to win! I think there are Filipinos who are like that, weve seen it in other reality shows like Pinoy Big Brother.

It not just the Filipino. It happen to all version of Biggest Loser that I saw. Why can't they just focus on their weight loss? It is no surprising that does join just for the money getting fat as soon they are out of the show. It is reveal that the winner of the first Biggest Loser US, Ryan, getting fat back and at the same size he was before he join the show.

Oh, i see. Sorry about that as Im seldom watch other editions. Maybe because of the fact that it is still a competition and maybe somehow there are some who's more focused on the cash prize rather than his/her self improvement.

I like to watch that programme because it is an inspiration to people like me who are trying to lose weight at the moment and who are getting a little slowed down by the whole thing. The people who go on that show always do so well, and it just shows that you are able to lose as much weight as you like if you put your mind to it and change both your diet and your exercise regimes. We should all want to be healthy, and I can never understand people who are overweight who say that they're happy that way. How can it be possible to still be happy if you're so overweight?
@staria (2780)

well, it could be because of their outlook in life. it's not really impossible to be happy being overweight, but we can do lot of things if we aren't. it's different. I think the contestants were helped by the fact that they actually aim for something like the pot money, but even if they didnt win, they regained a healthy life :)

I'm a fan of the show myself. Not because I think I need to lose weight (I do!), but because I marvel at how much exercise the contestants can do. And how Bob and Jillian (not Jillian anymore) can motivate them to exercise. Makes me wish I had Bob and/or Jillian on my side shouting at me. The transformations are great, specially the confidence they gain.

haha! transformation really makes me wow in the end. I never thought one can lose much weight over a short period of time. oh well w/ the right diet in place, exercise and all the slimming stuff, it's possible as they show it :)

Yes, i agree. Losing weight is not just on the outside, looking good and glamorous. Most important of all, it helps in bringing us confidence and feel good. IF we don't feel good, no matter how we dress up, how slim we are, we won't be able to bring out the best in us. Overweight people can look good too, because they have the confidence in themselves, and they often bring joy to others by being lively, bubbly.

yes overweight people should also have their confidence intact, though what bothers them most of the time is the people that surrounds them. people who look at beauty as an outside thing.

I do not believe in that show.It is very artificial setting for these people.They stay at a place where they are given the food to eat,and the work out to do.They do not live in regular circumstances,and most of them regain the weight lost when they go back to their regular life.also it is very dangerous to loose wieght in this manner.Slow and steady, leading a balanced life will do it for lasting success.
@staria (2780)

i respect your opinion on this. yeah they are somehow living an artificial life cos everything is provided for them, but that's how they are trained to turn their backs to their normal routine. but though, yes it is not a guarantee that they will be able to sustain their diet after.

I've also watched some of the episodes of the show and it's a great show because the contestants regain their confidence and trust in their selves. It makes us realize that really hard work can do a lot of things if you are serious in doing this.

@innocentkadz: yup, it helps the contestants as well as the chubby to overweight viewers too. that it is not impossible. possible it is if we could only get ourselves to work out and eat the right food diet. @joannaleed: it really pays to see people actually doing it and losing it. it's a lot different than going thru it all by yourself. :)

yes, they bring back the confidence that they have lost during the time that they are fat, since most of the people judge thru the physical looks of a person.

i too am a fan of Biggest loser PH.. it is so amazing how they lost weight in 4 months time.. i really admire their determination.. and i envy them for having such courage. i owe the show everything because not only are they helping the contestants but they are also helping people watching the show. people who did have the courage to join but has the same problem. well the show helps alot of people.. giving tips on how to do it the right way to lose weight and how to maintain the desired weight. from the diet to the workouts to the information that the coaches impart, like 30mins of walking can already burn fats, and that sweating does not necessarily means you are burning fats. this show also helps people to look beyond the physical appearance of a person to be loved, accepted or have self confidence. it shows that no matter how fat or thin you are you just need to trust in yourself that you can do and achieve your goal. and the most important thing i learned in this show... that is to claim your goal even if you have not received it yet... believing is the greatest weapon each contestant brought to the show and it made me believe in something again.

that's right, this show helps a lot of fat people out there that it's still possible to change the life that they are in now. and i think another best thing brought about by this show is that it also serves as an eye opener for those people who do not truly understand the situation of these fat people and all they know is tease them and ridicule them

my mother and father also like to watch that show on the television i for one have never really liked watching it though i do give the contestants props for being able to go on television and lose that much weight though i know losing weight is hard enough by itself having a camera watching your every move and knowing everyone in america is watching you and critiquing you makes it that much harder i do remember this one episode with this one celebrity (i dont know his name) was on the show and he almost got in a fight with the judges when you go to get weighed he pushed peoples buttons and he purposefully threw challenges he was quite entertaining to watch

that's right, it's hard to personally involve yourself under the scrutiny of the viewers etc. but i think for as long as you know and believe that you are doing it for yourself, nothing will stop you. after all, they look really good after the show and they can give a laugh to those people who made fun of them when they are fatter :)

really true! i have been watching that show too and i am very much impressed with how much pounds they have lost. the show is inspiring people who are not just like the ones who are in the show but everyone. emotionally they have been broken and physically they have been judge. the show has chosen the best persons to be included in the show because they did not only inspire us physically but also emotionally on how they stand up. they had shown someone who had no self confidence before and now with high level of self-esteem.

it's really touching, especially during the time when they expressed their sincere gratitude to the show. I think Biggest Loser unlike any other reality TV show is the best of its kind as it really shows the true side of things and that everything's real and not only pure drama.
