I have been reading the reviews of Ted Danson's first episode and most people's opinions seem mostly positive but people don't seem to know exactly what to make of him. The fact that he walked into a role with two such iconic leads William Petersen as Gil Grissom created a unique style as did Lawrence Fishburne, makes it very difficult. The other point that goes against him is that he is a very good comedian, and for some reason dramatic actors are allowed to do comedy with little or no backlash yet comedic actors have a hard time being accepted as dramatic actors, there are exceptions fortunately. Ted Danson should bring a different dynamic to the show, probably a lighter mood. What do you think?

I think he'll do well on the show. But it does seem like people miss Grissom and don't watch as much. He left big shoes to fill. Ted Danson has done some serious roles too so I think he can do it. From the looks of the previews he is going to bring some funniness to the show and be a little quirky.

I have watched all of the episodes with Ted Danson in the new season so far and I have to say I am quite pleased with the way his new character is integrated into the series. His methodology and demeanor are quite different when compared to Fishburne and Peterson, which is a good thing; attempting to portray either of their character traits would be a mistake.
I am glad that I did not know that Fishburne was leaving, as I did not have a chance to form pre-conceived notions about how the series would be with Danson. He has done very well so far as supervisor, and it will be interesting to see how his character develops as time goes on.
