No doubt for that, that reading books will give you more knowledge. Even other reading materials, as long as you understand what you're reading and you have fun in doing so. This is also one way to learn new ideas and insights, in which in the future may be of a great help to you.
I usually read novels by Sidney Sheldon and James Patterson, aside from the fact that it is inspiring and exciting, sometimes the words used are also interesting. Every now and then i have with me my dictionary to look for some highfalutin words they used. It is more fun now in looking for the words and know the meaning of such word.
Reading is very important to everyone, because through reading there is a continues education. And it also enhances or memory because we exercise our brain cells when we are reading. So always read and read and read.

I have to read every night due to doctors request. When I was 9 month old I had this operation in my brain from a diseased called "meningitis." Because of that, I was never able to concentrate on what others told me. I need to be given simple steps to get what they are trying to say. The doctors said by reading well help me understand more about more on things.

I love reading too. When i read using only my eyes.
Reading actually help me with my insights and knowledge. A lot normally come to me to consult or thier listeners or thier adviser. I am no consultant but friends come with me to talk things and ask my opinions. sometimes some of my opinions and thoughts are based in the book. you know like some word of wisdom. But most of things i shared with them are based also with experience.

And even you are not real consultant but it helps that you are helping them and i think they are satisfied and like you to talk those needs.

Absolutely, I love to read magazines, books, encyclopedias and novels. This is one of my favorite past times. I learned a lot through reading. It helps widen my vocabulary, helps me travel to other place, learn other people's culture without leaving the comfort of my home.
Reading also helped me shape my beliefs and at the same time entertains me. I just finished reading Dan Brown's book entitled "The Lost Symbol" and "The Da Vinci Code". I learned a lot of interesting facts about the book.
I know that reading will really help a person. It can also help shape our minds and knowledge is power and through reading we will be able to have that power that we can share to our family and other people as well.

Reading is beneficial to everyone. One can discover many things about our government, politics, environment, people, culture everything about the world we live in. It is a good and productive past time for someone who ain't got no worries in the world but watch how their money grows.
Reading is one of my favorite leisure activities. Since my elementary years we were encouraged to read books.I noticed that as we grow older, the types of reading materials we read also changes. At a certain point in my life I only wanted to read about mysteries, romance, fiction, sci-fi, technology. As I grow in years, i prefer to read spiritual and inspirational books or novels. It changes depending on the stage of life we are.
In reading I learned so many things. I learned the culture of other countries, their foods, languages, currency, etc. Oftentimes, while reading, one can't help but ry to imagine where the location is and how the person appears. It simply makes the mind active and somehow it stimulates the creative mind.
There are even instances that I can finish a book in 3 hours straight because the story was so thrilling that I needed to finish it right away. But this seldom happens now. I try to allot a certain number of hours to read so that I won't strain my eyes.
To date, my favorite authors are Paulo Coelho, Dan brown,Patricia Cornwell, Robin Cook, Maeve Binchy and many others. But my most favorite are the books written by Coelho.:-) It will move to reflect. :-)

I agree with you. This is why I prefer my child to read rather than "learning" from iPad. He is still little and I hope he has a good habit of reading. It can not be replaced by the iPad in my opinion. The iPad is like a game for me.
I love China

I agree with you that books can give you knowledge. Even fiction books can tell you things that you didn't know about people and places, even though they're not supposed to be true. Some books are so beautiful that you get addicted to them and this means that we can learn things without even knowing that we're doing it. I read at least one book each and every week, and this means that I am quite clever and I know a lot of things that I wouldn't have known without the fact that I love reading. It is an absolute gift in my life.

A lot of doors and windows are opened when you read. You get to go to places that you can't go to in real life. You get to visit the places that people have searched all their lives looking for it, like el dorado, atlantis, even the dune.
Your point of view changes, your insights and way of thinking changes because of how the characters think

i like reading books. yes because it adds to your previous knowledge.
it would broaden your views as you have read the authors point of view.
it would enhance your speaking and writing skills and not only that it would help you a lot with your grammar.

Reading is a pleasant way to learn, starting by the vocabulary you build up while you read. It's like an inconcious learning while you read.
Someone told me once a history about another person, who stopped studying school once he finished the fourth course of primary. Since then, he dedicated all his time reading books. When this young boy became an adult, he had already read so many books that he gained plenty of knowledge which he used to build up his own company and as the owner of his company which grew and got into a big one, he got converted into a rich man.

Yeah that's right! That's why I read often now. When I was a kid, I use to simply hate reading, you could never force me to even read a picture book let alone thick novels! Books truly build upon your knowledge and makes you smarter. It makes your brain work and interpret the words you read, that's what you call brain power! I love reading now, especially if it's a book I really like. If it was a boring book then I'm going to have a very hard time finishing it.
