Do you like it quiet when you are on the computer?

I will tend to have the television on. I will watch some, and listen a lot. If I have a writing assignment it needs to be the weather channel or something like that so that I will not be too distracted.

It actually depends on my mood. If i am tensed or maybe having a small headache, i will have light melodies or piano music in the background. If i am feeling sleepy and still have some work to complete, i will have some Bass or Rock music in the background. When i am working on myLot, i will have a movie running on my other monitor.

Generally i am not easily distracted when i am on the computer. I don't necessarily need it to be quiet. Sometimes if it is too quiet that disturbs my concentration on the computer. If i need some quiet time while I am on the computer then I just filter the background noises with my earphones.

When i'm doing something important and totally have to concentrate on what i'm working on, i want total peace, i want to have a total quiet environment but when i'm just searching something or writing an article, i want to have music on my ear and that is what keeps me going.

Well for me, it really depends on my mood. I sometimes do things like playing music while surfing or just be quiet to concentrate. But I often likes to be quiet because I'm not really fun of having loud noises. I feel like to be in the peaceful place while surfing or doing some computer works.

i need the place to be quiet so i can focus better on what i am doing on my computer or with anything else. the only thing that differs is when i do the small things like the dishes or a shower that i need the music.

I always have something on while I'm on the computer, either music or a tv in the background. It doesn't bother me having the noise. Sometimes I will listen to the tv while doing mundane stuff on the computer, and if it's something that I have to keep my mind on, then I just tune it out without thinking about it. Music? Well, depending on the type of music, it either makes me dance around to the beat while sitting in my chair, or sometimes I'll even sing along out loud. I find music much harder to tune out than a tv going in the background lol. Hmm, never really thought about it before, but I guess I like having some kind of background noise almost all the time.

I find TV, radio, music distracting. I can't think about what I'm trying to write if there is stuff going on in the back ground... However, I can go to a restaurant and write, so long as they keep that tea glass FULL!

I like it quiet just about all of the time, as I like to hear myself think. I don't ever like background noise, but sometimes I like to lie down or sit and just listen to music. Oh, I take that back, sometimes I do like music as part of exercising...not sure if that is background music or not.

I am not keen on listening to radio or tv while browsing internet. However if the tv is running it is ok. Invariably in the home we will have sound of child playing and others talking. I browse with them. Rarely I play my favourite music and browse internet or work on my computer.

hi estherlou i would like to have a quiet surrounding when i am here in the computer i can say that it is much more comfortable to think, if not i would like to have a music it is more relaxing to my part.because i love some music :)

I'm just like you! I really hate working in silence, it makes me feel really uncomfortable for some reason. I need some noise blasting through my ears so I always have music playing on my computer while I'm checking my emails or on Mylot. Now only are my eyes and fingers working but my ears too! I sometimes have the television on as well but I just listen to it but I don't watch it because my eyes are too busy facing the computer screen. I know, a waste of electricity but I just leave the TV on until my favorite program is over and here's nothing interesting on.

I want a peaceful place when I'm reading that's all. I'm into noise! I love to make sounds haha

with or without sound, it is okay. i can work on the computer even with the tv on.

I'm pretty much the same way. I usually have the TV on when I'm at home even if I'm not really watching it. Many times it's just background noise and I'm not really watching it. Most of my time on the computer is with my laptop in the living room with the TV on, even though it is a distraction. Lately though, I've been thinking about turning it off more, especially when there's not something on that I really want to watch. I just need to break myself of the habit of having it on all the time and that's really the main reason it's on - habit. I know it would increase my productivity on the computer when I'm writing or reading news or research. When I'm reading a book, I like to have it quiet so I can concentrate on what I'm reading so that should translate to the computer as well. I'll just have to force myself to turn it off. It's probably a good idea to not watch as much TV overall anyway. Studies have shown that it can have a detrimental effect in more ways than one. It would probably save a little money on the electric bill as well!

If I'm writing or calculating or working in Quickbooks or processing orders, I need it mostly quiet. For sure I can't have anything with words or speaking on around me. If I play music, it's got to be something like Mozart where words to songs won't be flitting through my mind. I've always been that way. I hate the sound of a TV or radio in the background -- especially if the sound is so low I can't make out th words. The only time I enjoy having the music or radio on is if I'm working in the kitchen or doing some mindless and boring task, or if I'm in the car.
