A new craze here is pole dancing. The local dance schools that offer it have their classes full with a waiting list as well! I understand that it's a great exercise tool and good for stretching and staying limber. What do you think of pole dancing? Let's keep this nice and clean now, no naughty talk.

It's becoming a fad where I am, too. I mean, a lot of people do that to stay fit, they say. Well, judging from the moves, it would really a total workout. I guess it's good for the arms and legs, and generally for the whole body because it improves flexibility. That would not be in the list of things I would do, though, because I could never lift my self up that way!

I know - if you look at my post above you, you'll see that I said no way for me! They'd definitely come with a straight jacket for me. I'll have to go watch one of the classes and report back to myLot and let you all know what they were doing there!

60? Wow! They must be really healthy women! Now, that gives me shame. I should be serious about getting healthy if I want to be that healthy at that age.

I'll let you know. I do know that this dance school is definitely above board and very well-respected. I'm with you as to the younger generation can enjoy it. The owner of the school, however, even told me that some women 60 years of age even are taking the classes - WOW!

hehe. I have never heard about schools which teach this. Well I think I could not be good dancer. Except of my walking stick I'm not graceful and I can not imagine myself doing that. Not because I'm prejudiced or something. Just I don't see myself doing that because I don't have ability to dance in this way.

I have to chuckle in agreement. I can't dance that way either! Matter of fact, just a month ago I was on a walker due to a broken foot and then resultant bursitis in my left hip.

I'm not wealthy enough to pay other people compensation for seeing my fat backside swirling around.

I'm not really sure. I think it is naughty. I think people who want to learn it, have naughty intentions.

Well, That's what I thought at first as well. But with the comments here and with the ballroom dance school here in town, my thoughts have come full circle and now I look at it as a new way to exercise. I couldn't do it as I've definitely gone past the stage of major exercise, I couldn't do it if I tried. But it looks like it's the new exercise thing!

So here is my question, have you never had a "naughty" thought in your life? Sexuality is a perfectly normal human trait...how else are we expected to reproduce after all? Plus as previously stated this type of dance has amazing health belefits. What is so wrong with wanting to make our bodies healthier and more beautiful, and if we learn to move more sensually at the same time, what is the problem with that?

Well, pole dancing was started by those on some movies we saw, as being danced by those in the club. Thus, it was known as that. But then, the healthy benefits of having to dance that have been revealed, hence its popularity. Well, if it is nice for the litheness of our body then i think it's nice to take . Dancing has always been a good way to exercise and enjoy, after all.

So, from what you're saying, it sounds like people are changing their thinking about pole dancing and realizing how good it is for fitness. That's a good thing! Thanks for your comment.

Me i want to learn pole dance. I can feel that all my nerves, muscles are moving if i make it part of my exercise. I actually looking one here in Cebu but i don't think we have it here. Coz right now despite of me being petite i find myself heavy. Need to exert more effort to stay fit. and i think pole dancing is a help.

Well, I also feel heavy and need some weight-loss. I have taken all sugars out of my drinks and that has in itself caused me to lose one size in my clothing already. I am walking more and those type of things. I am not physically able to do the pole dancing thing - at least not yet!

OK, as you already mentioned it is beyond amazing for the body in a physical way, but how about the emotional factors. Learning to dance in this way may be able to add confidence to a persons demeaner. If they can view themselves as attractive then their self-esteem can sky rocket. Also I can think of a few other applications of learning to pole dance, which I will keep to myself in the intrest of keeping this pg-13. I personally would love to learn this for the same reason that I would love to learn belly dancing, I have no rythmn...in fact I have less than no rythmn. To be able to move in a controlled and sensous way seems absolutly divine to me.

Don't I know about financial status. It's really something right now! Hopefully things will turn around soon and get better for all of us.

I like your take on this, as well as your delivery of your feelings! I had never thought about the confidence factor, but you're most likely correct, it would probably add some or a lot of confidence! Maybe you should try it?

I have actually considered doing so, however with my financial status at the time being it is not really possible.

Hi Kizzy Cat Fish: As you have mentioned, pole dancing is a good exercise. I think that Pole dancing has become so popular because some celebrities have mentioned that they practice pole dancing to lose weight. I remember top model Adrianne Curry actually said that and she is hot. ALVARO

I had a friend once ask me to sign up with her. I thought it would be fun, but never did sign up. She did and says that it is great exercise amongst a lot of fun. I think it would be something fun, but then I don't plan on using a pole anytime soon at home and or anywhere that I can think of so I don't think I would be doing so.

I'm glad that your girlfriend enjoyed her experience. And that you made the right decision as you're not using a pole at any time at home. It's beginning to sound to me like it's becoming a new way of exercise.

I'm glad to hear that you think it's good health and exercise. Now I'm anxious to just watch a class to see how clever they are and how much exercise they really do!

I think that it is silly and that people shouldn't bother. Many people think lowly of it and there are reasons for their thinking. Just because something is good for exercise doesn't mean that it should be something that you do for exercise. For example: You could really like doing handstands at the edge of a building and it would be good for your agility and stabilizer muscles but it just isn't a good thing to do. Running through town barefoot and naked would also be good for your health but people just do not do that because it would look bad (or they would get in trouble for it).

You made me chuckle with your examples! Now I'm going to have to go watch one of the classes, just because I'm curious to see what they really do!
