I would like to take this discussion as a reminder for newbies as well as everyone that they can respond to old discussions and earn from it. To assure them that the user who started it is still active, they can just click on their profiles . I always do this, specially when out of the many recent and new discussions , I cannot find one that interests me. I simply click on my friends’ profiles and see their own started discussions and see what can interests me. Thus, I find out from their discussions what are their likes and dislikes. It’s one way of knowing a person actually.

You see sometimes, it is not possible to ensure that a user of an old discussion is still active so in that case, we may not earn? However, if any topic appeals to me, older or new, I do not share my views for the sake of earning only. I will simply respond to an interesting topic.

Do you mean to say that even if the user of an old discussion is inactive or his account has been deleted or he has been banned, will we still earn, if we respond to his/her discussions?

Yes, that's what i learned from the veterans. Whenever we respond or comment back of quality type, we earn for it, unanswered or not.

Hi simplyD! I always respond to old discussions. The oldest one is about 5 years ago. But I would like to take your advise about checking other people's discussion. That is a very good suggestion.

I have some friends here who have very interesting discussions posted. I can go ahead and check their profiles. I might be able to find more interesting discussions they posted way before.

Actually, we get to know something about our friends here at Mylot, by going into their profiles and looking at their started discussions or even knowing what discussions they have responded to. From their discussions, you will know if your share same opinions.

I have had a resurgence of interest in responding to old discussions this past week. A friend here suggested it. Although I've know this fact for a while. Sometimes, it's easier to respond to the recent ones. And sometimes more relevant ones. Once in a while though, you find discussions that are years-old, yet still very relevant.

And somehow, those old discussions have some depth, right?

I am not a newbie, but I do respond to old discussion myself. I see nothing wrong with and I welcome anyone to respond to any of my old discussions. You're right, we still earn from responding to them.

I can see that you are not a newbie here, inertia. I think newbie or not, we should also try to see some of the old discussions our friends have. Not only will we still earn for it, but at least we get to know what were their previous discussions were. Usually, their initial discussions reveals some things about themselves - their likes and dislikes and experiences in life.

I have been reading many discussions and looking for ones that I am interested in adding to. I really do not like how there are so many random thoughts thrown around just to get many posts. Many people post many unrelated topics in a short amount of time but they word them in ways that they are long and constructed. I wish there were more niche groups of people where you could actually talk to people with same interests about things that are important to you. I feel that because there are so many people trying to post as much as they can that they will comment on almost anything even if they do not know much about it.

Oh well, those are the kind that only wants to respond for the sake of earning. They don't want to let their brains work a bit, to add some knowledge to the discussion. Sad, but there are a lot here at Mylot that are like that.

Is it for the sake of responding or trying to make comments on something that makes sense? Imagine one commenting on something done three months ago

It's not that superjelly. You respond to the discussion, because you can relate to it or have an idea or suggestion about it, be it an old or a new discussion.

Very nice sharing, Simplyd. Indeed, that's a good way to find out and getting to know more about a person. I do respond to a few old discussions recently when i can't find any new discussion which interest me. In fact, some old discussions are very interesting and i love to respond to them. That's the best about this site, we can respond to any discussion, no matter how old is the discussion. Because the admin never lock any discussion as long it is not violating the rules.

I do answer or reply to discussions which are days old or even a week ago will do as long as the thread started did not selected yet the best response. But for me, if the poster already selected the BR, I don't answer anymore to the discussion, for me it was already solved, so no need to point out and share my opinion.

It doesn't mean that the discussion is over if the BR mark is already given. You might still have some ideas, but it's just that, you were late for the BR mark. Nonetheless, in my case, i still answer to it.

I also sometimes respond to that had long discussion. But I rarely see member profile, I just responded to a discussion that I found. I do not pay attention to the member, active or not. If it had not been active, it may be a reminder to members, because the members it, surely will receive an email, because I was responding to discussions.

My friend, do you mean "respond to old discussion"? You see, some members may not be active anymore, or has left Mylot because of their full time job, that's why some old discussions are never commented back by the one who started it. For me, i won't respond to it anymore if it's a very old one like 3 years or more and the member is not active anymore.

I do the same esp when there is no interesting topic I found, I scan to my friends old topics. Sometimes I spend scanning to "friends started" and check out old topics that I missed for days. I am not active these past few days and I am sure I missed a lot and I don't want to miss my friend's topic (if possible) Yes,it's a good way to know a friend from their posts...

I do that too always. I would always take at look at all my friends newly started discussions. I am happy that i can more or less surmise from their discussions things about them . And their old ones are nice to not of too, as well as to respond to. .

Hi...Today if U are engaged with specific interests then it is difficult to start or even find one topic of U interest....generally to add reply to any discussion means one should imply their mind to do it...some time it may be difficult to do so...but reading others reply or topics posted it easy to many of us...so these can't think of earning much...but i say that one should involve to find out topic & create interest...on that...nice reading..

When we are to respond to discussions, we should choose them well. You have to read it thoroughly so you will know if it interests you to respond. If not, then you can move on and look for other topics. And when there aren't any still, you can now go to old discussions or related discussions whose title are below the discussion you have just read and found out to be not of your interest after all.

I always respond to things I find without regard to how old it is. I really don't pay attention to the age of it. I just respond if I like to answer it.

I agree. I had respond to a couple of old discussions today. I really want to be active today but there are not much new discussions that interests me. At first, I did not know that those are old discussions. i was waiting for someone to comment back but it turned out the discussions are a few months old, lol. Someone should start new discussions, not me. I can't think of any good ones. :))

Oh, those few months old discussions or even those that i started when i was just a newbie, could still be very much welcome to be responded on. I always get to answer all my discussions old and new. My email notifies me, even when an old one gets responded. That's what's good about MyLot.
