Now the kids have gone back to school it's estimated that one in eight families may end up with the problem of head lice.
The tiny pests as we know are spread by close contact, which means school children are often victims and then they bring them home to the family!!
When catching the culprits they say to pay special attention to the neck line and the area behind the ears.
Hoping that no ones children's have caught head lice so far.
We haven't had head lice in our house for quite a number of years, but in the past our eldest daughter sufffered really bad.

Luckily I have never had that in my house either, but like you said school has started and this is their first year in a public school since they started PreK and K, they have always been a daycare facility enviornment with minimal children, but now it is a whole different story. When I was young I got them in Elementary but we are talking about many moons ago.
But like you said this is something that is very common especially among children and we definitely need to keep an eye out for them.

I hope I am one of the luck ones, I don't want my children to go through that. I have seen kids go through it, and it's not only the experience, but sometimes the kids at schools could be cruel and make fun of them as well. Let me tell you kids could be cruel at times.

I have 2 kids aged 5 and 2. My little girl has suffered nits many times so I have got into the routine of checking her hair regularly and nit combing through. My daughter has gone back to school and I've found one nit in her hair so far, so far, so good.

Just saying it makes my head tingle as if I had these creepy crawlies! My mom said I had them as an elementary child. My kid all had them last year. IT was gross! They have very thick curly hair and it was so hard to get them all out. It was so hard to get out of their hair. The store bought lice remover was actually the least helpful. We did the mayo and heat comb finally on my eldest daughter as well.

Oh, I remember those days all too well! Oddly, I grew up and never once got them and neither did my brothers. I had never seen them until my oldest daughter came home with them. The worst part of it was that I babysat a lot of kids before and after school and they all got them as well. I also had younger children that were not in school and my husband and I both had very long, thick hair. It was a nightmare!! We would get rid of them and a couple of days later, they'd be right back. The school was just checking my daughter's classroom when I reported it. The problem was that some of the kids I took care of were in other classes and we didn't know where the problem started. When I complained to the school nurse about it because it was getting pretty costly, she asked me if I wanted to come up and do her job. I said, "No but I will gladly come up and help you go through that whole school and check heads." And then I did. Haven't dealt with that in years and hope never to again. Horrible experience!

My head felt itchy while I was reading this. Fortunately, all of us are grown-ups now. I can still remember the time when I had head lice when I was 6 years old. My mom would stay up all night to rid my head of the lice. Where do head lice originate anyway?

My nephew had a lead lice when he was studying. He was always outside playing with his classmates. I guess it's because of too much sun that is why he had lice in his head. We asked him to use apple cider vinegar in his head to remove the lice. And it worked. After a couple of days of using it, the lice are gone.

My daughter aged 2 got head lice this August. She might have got them from other children at her child minder. She passed them on to me, my disabled son and my older son. We combed them out using a special comb. Yes, the head lice like the neck line and under the ears. I use mint and tea tree shampoo and conditioner. We don't want to catch head lice ever again.

I am lucky that my girls (aged 6 and 11) have never had to endure this. I had terrible live as a child. The problem would go away only to return a few months later. This is a pain. It is so itchy and uncomfortable. Also, since you are contagious no one will play with you. This is why I tell my girls not to share brushes or hats with friends. This prevents transfer in some cases.

I remembered my daughter getting them, when she was in high school, living in a dorm. She would be combing her hair with a very fine comb to get those lice from her hair.
I remedied it by shampooing it with a bottle of lice remover. I did it for two weekends and they were gone.
After that, I told her never to share pillows with anyone and avoid exposure to the sun. In addition, to always shampoo her hair well.
