most of the provinces that have been hit by the typhoon has been flooded and most of the people choose to stay on their roofs or on the top of their house. some of their reasons was to protect their property for being lost or stolen and other people said they were dismayed from the way of rescuing because the rescuers out numbered the people they were rescuing so the chances were most of the rescue vehicles was full of rescuers than those people they were rescuing

almost all people in the flood stricken areas chosen not to evacuate, meaning they all stayed and waited for the flood to subside or waited a chance to practice and show their swimming skills, no kidding though, my local was also flooded, San Antonio Nueva ecija, there was no area to evacuate, all was flooded

What properties are they protecting? The house is underwater so I believe they should worry more about their safety instead of their properties.I think they are safer if they would go to the evacuation center. Staying on the top of their roof exposes them in more danger such as being drowned should the water level rises above the roof. The rain has been unpredictable so at anytime it rains hard their lives are in danger. Also they are also exposed to other dangers. Just this morning, a boy was killed when he was bitten by a snake. The boy was getting some food inside their house which is still underwater and there he was bitten by the snake. He was rushed in the hospital but still he perished.

yes you are right that they are safer in evacuation sites. the properties they were protecting was their appliances furniture or anything they thought valuable in their house but they never realize that life is more valuable and their safety than those properties they said they were protecting

For me i would evacuate because the life is more important than to get there and no food no good water then we get sick.

lots of spectators, lots of willing to help, lots in neighbors come for investigation, but 10% of those people having a chance to steal your belongings, that is the reason why most of the survivor to be - are not willing to leave their property....
it takes them years to accumulate that and ready to abduct by others out there....

Me and my family experienced being flooded and trapped in our house
back in 2009, when Ondoy hit the the country.
We were all so stressed out, we couldn't stay in our house,
we won't live that way so we left our house for a while
and stayed at night on a hotel. The next day, we looked for a house
to rent temporarily and we stayed there for months since the Ondoy flood in
our original house stayed for like 3 months.

I will evacuate. The life of my family is more important than my things and properties. I will choose what is best for them. i don't understand why some of them choose to stay even if they don't have anymore place to stay or if they don't have anymore food to eat. I watched news a couple of years ago when a volcano was going to erupt. The government asked them to evacuate but the people decided to stay. I don't know what they were thinking.

i think i will choose to evacuate if i were in the affected area... if i still have the chance and choice to evacuate, i will... it will give me a greater chance of survival and i wouldn't want to stay in a flooded area if i can help it anyway... take care and have a nice day...

Maybe they should change their strategy when it comes to rescuing although people are also stubborn, they prioritize their personal belongings like its more costlier than their life. Anyway to each his own, you can never ever take anything with you once you die, that's the basic truth and reality, so why worry about those flooded property.
To go into safety is much more important rather than to mind those earthly things. I do hope that government agencies with the help of NGO's and other social welfare office will help also our fellowmen. I also pray for our fellow kababayans for their safety and see the truth of why these things happen and why did God took his protection from our land, its because of hard hardheadedness and disobedience to Him. People must ask for forgiveness to God and get back to Him.

I really don't get it when people would choose to stay in their houses in spite the authorities warning to evacuate. I also don't understand their reasoning that they're staying to protect their properties, what's there to protect? their wet appliances? If it's just a knee deep or waist high deep flood then I see nothing wrong when people would stay home rather than cramping in the evacuation areas but when the water is as high as their roofs then failure to evacuate means not endangering their lives but the lives of the rescuers as well.

I have to agree with you. Rescuers are actually outnumbered that's the reason why a few victims would rather stay at their own houses roof top. I think the government should try to study and see the possible things that they can do if catastrophes like this come in the area of responsibility.

That is sad to hear. The people who organize this rescue operations must do a better crowd staff control. The main goal is to rescue. It brings out the Bayanihan spirit of the Filipino people that of helping others that are in need. I just hope that less typhoons would visit our country because it is a stigma and a horrific experience for those who are still under water. All of what they worked on are submerge in flood and destroyed.

If I'm someone from flood prone area,I will build my house in a high place or build a house with higher post. The best option is to leave that place and start somewhere else. It's not worthy risking your life every time there is a heavy rain.Primary prevention is still better.

i think you should believe in fate, pray to god and see what he tells you to do, if you believe in him he will tell you what to do :) I think praying to him will be good because he will take the floods and all away just advice though i would evacuate first though to somewhere safer in case another hits no risk on my life

yes you are totally correct , lalo na dyan sa bulacan isa lang ang rescue boat nyo at pinahiram ng coast guard ung kaisa isa nilang pang rescue . wala pang mga pnp na tumutulong puro MIA missing in action . nakaka asar talaga sa pilipinas . saka ang pangulo nyo dyan na si noynoy . walang ka kwenta kwenta dumalaw lang ng limang minuto nung wala ng baha . dapat nung may delubyo sya dumalaw . nagkamali ako sa boto ko sa pangulo na yan . tapos pinagalitan pa nya ung ibang ahensya na tumutulong . wala na pag asa sa pangulo naten . di na uunlad kung tulad lang ni noynoy ang pangulo . kung nabubuhay pa ang ama nya . sigurado ako papagalitan at di matatanggap ang pamamalakad ni noynoy . nakakaasar

This is true, people prefer to stay on their roofs to protect their property and never think about their safety.
In regards with the rescuers...that's too bad then.
They must limit the rescuers to accommodate more people into the vehicle.
I really feel sad when watching the news and seeing those place..

This will always be the situation every time people ignore disaster preparedness tips and information. People just ignore things that will help save life during a disaster. But it is not yet too late. The local govenment is the one to blame becuse it lacks in anticipation of the worsts to come. Look, there are local government whose disaster preparedness is well-planned and they succeeded in rescuing and eliminating big damages. It is a joint efforts of the people and the local offiial but the initiative must always comes from the officials. If things were careful planned and people have do their part, it is possible that there will be less damages or life lost.

I think to evacuate after the flood is too late already. The damage has been done already. All the people could do is stay and wait. At least now the flood is already starting to subside. For me evacuating should be advice early to those people or place that is affected. Good thing Filipinos are really good in adpating:))

some of the victims also made a decision to not leave their homes because they don't have other place to go to and that they didn't evacuate because the evacuation centers were all crowded and they are afraid that they might get infected with diseases that are contagious in some of the evacuation centers..
