It is said that, if you want to retard the aging of your skin, you have to start using body lotion at the age of 20. I told my daughter this, yet she always forget to apply body lotion, after bathing. Me, I can say that at my old age, I have maintained a smooth and still young looking skin. Maybe, because as early as when I was in college, I always apply body lotion all over my body. Besides, I see to it that my body lotion has a label 24 hrs. Hence, it stays in my skin the whole day. In addition, I now use a soap that has plenty of moisturizer. One way to prove if your skin is well hydrated is to scratch it with your nails. If it produces a whitish line on the scratched part, then it is dry. Time to use a 24 hrs. super hydrating body lotion.

hi there simplyd! i have been using body lotion since my elementary years it's because my mom would apply it on us after we take a bath before she would notice that white streaks appear on our skin if we don't apply it specially when it's very sunny. so as early as elementary i have been applying lotion on my body until now. i can see how smooth my skin is and the mild baby lotion of Johnson&Johnson keeps it young and now whiter. so i would also recommend others to use body lotion as early as possible. they can just have mild lotion like mine. but when they are older enough then they can have lotions containing spf to protect their skin from heat and early aging signs.

I think i am like you too , shane. When i was just a kid, it was our mom who puts body lotion to our bodies and she does it regularly. I remember now, that as i grew old, i always forget to put on body lotion after taking a bath. I guess, i wasn't that beauty conscious yet during those times, that's why. But when i reached college, i started to be beauty conscious, hence i would always put body lotion. Well, it pays that at an early age we use body lotion, because our skin is smooth and glowing always.

lol! we are the same. i am also not that beauty conscious. yes, it always feels lighter when our mom would be the one to apply it on us.lol(tamad kasi) i do also get tired putting on lotion after taking a bath before but now it has become a habit because my lotion serves two purpose it does not only make my skin smoother and healthy but it also keeps me fragrant. i am not fond of putting on perfumes so that's why i rely much on my lotion. yes that is true! i have seen the effects of lotion on my skin and i love it so i make sure i apply it everyday.

I love this discussion Ms. simplyD! I know that you look really good. I actually like how you carry yourself with confidence. I admire that! Well, I've got to learn how to be faithful again with applying lotion on my whole body because sometimes I don't want to because I hate the feeling of being sticky when I get out of the house and the sun is melting all the lotion away. I think I have to look for Shades and White, a lotion that I loved using because the skin absorbs it so well. Thanks for the beauty tips!

Luckily, i don't feel that Ronadelle. Maybe because i am so used to it already.

Your compliment made me laugh ronadelle, and at the same time perked up my morning. Shades and White, i think that's an imported body lotion, because i haven't tried that yet. Right? Anyway, there are lots of non-sticky lotion in the market. But i must say so far, i like Vaseline's Butter Cocoa scent the best. It's non-sticky, stays on for 24 hours and the scent is wonderful! It was given to me from abroad, and it seems i cannot find it here in the department stores in our place, hence i just use Nivea Intensive Body Lotion instead and so far, it's really very good on the skin. It keeps the skin hydrated the whole day !

you're welcome! I'm happy that I perked up your morning! I actually don't know why there's no shades and white around. I think my dorm roommate before was selling imported products that's why. It's one of what I bought from her and I really liked it. I do have nivea intensive body lotion, but i just put in on after showering in the evening. It's really an intensive moisturizer that I feel sticky when outside the house.

Our body produce less moisture as we grow older and that's why we need moisturizers and body lotion all the time. I'm like you I apply body lotion and facial moisturizer right after showers. I just feel dry without it. It just really helps a lot. I also tell my teenage daughters to do the same thing. Good post, thanks :)

That's true. As we grow older, our body decreases its production of the natural moisture. Hence , this body lotion is just one of the way to help us hydrate our body more. It's not just for the sake of vanity but for our own good.

Wow, that's nice to hear that you have been using body lotion since your teenage years. It's really important that we protect our skin from the harsh rays of the sun, lest we will age prematurely by wrinkling earlier, when we don't do that always.

I have always applied body lotion on my son's skin even when he was a baby. I want him to maintain that baby smooth skin as my husband's skin is naturally rough, my son seems to have inherited it from his father. So I make sure that his body is moisturized by baby lotion up until now. I've been using body lotion since i was in high school. I think people should start as early as possible especially now that our weather is not so good and not as clean as before.

For our children, we should start as early as when they are a baby in applying a baby body lotion to their skin until they are old enough to do it by themselves. That way the suppleness and smoothness of their body is maintained. Yes, people should start early in using body lotion, specially in our tropical country.

Interesting information. I get lazy when it comes to applying body lotion. I don't like the greasy feel of it. I only use it occasionally. However, when it comes to the face, I see to it that I apply a moisturizer twice a day. I have tried scratching my arm, I'm glad it didn't show a whitish line. Hooray.

Indeed, applying a lotion takes a while. But then, it gives you a nice feeling while you apply it. Maybe your lotion is the greasy type. There are a lot of non-greasy body lotion and stays for 24 hours on the skin and that's what you should look for in a lotion, when buying one. So, yours is not a dry skin ? That's good, keep it up, by applying a body lotion regularly.

Yes, using a moisturizing soap such as Dove really helps too. My husband don't like putting on lotion so i let him use Olay Age defying soap, which i can attest is truly helpful in keeping the skin smooth and hydrated. I sometimes, forget to use body lotion, but would still not get a white line when i scratch my arms , because i use Olay soap when bathing.

I've found a lotion that is not that greasy. It's great. But I'm still lazy applying it everyday. LOL. I am currently using Dove as my soap. I guess it's the reason why my skin isn't dry.
