I have seen someone with rabies. He was in an isolation room and strapped to the bed.
He was acting with rage as he wanted to break free from the bed. His eyes were dilated and his mouth was leaking frothy saliva. When you show him water, the more his rage increases. It was like watching the incredible hulk mixed with a horror werewolf movie. Scary to be near him but I felt sad for him. He was out of himself. Poor fellow. After a few days, he passed away.
It's hard to make a cure for rabies but there are studies. There is one treatment and its prevention - vaccination.
In our country there is a hospital dedicated to infections and lo and behold there are about 600 patients per day who were bitten by animals who come in for the shots. Man that is a lot of bite and work.

Well I haven't seen someone with rabies in person, but as a nursing student, I know a lot about it. In fact, our thesis study is actually about Rabies.
In our province a program about Rabies was implemented and luckily since 2007 there are no reported cases of rabies anymore, just bite incidences from dogs. By the way my mom headed that program. LoL.
Anyway I think everyone should practice preventive measures like vaccination and pre exposures as "prevention is better that cure." Rabies is dangerous so we must treat every dog bite as a possible case and seek help right away.
