I'm a university student. These days, there are so many pressures in school. And there is always a temptation to be lazy and forget about study. I'd rather stay alone in bed, staring at the ceiling. But I don't want to give up myself. So what can I do to get myself back? Please help me.

You go out and try for a job, this wil teach you how hard it is for a non educational person or a non degree holder to get a good job, wihtout a job there is no food and no friends ,just try to see things practical.see how ur friends are going forward to u in studies, find a way to make ur self interested towards ur life goal and achievement.Once lost in life u will never be gain .so work hard.

That is your way of thinking ,time can change any second,i dont say that your friends will change, but situations are not always on our side,i had lot of experiences in my life.No one cares when u require them ,and when u are not in good times.Just they leave u alone.Forget not this sentence of mine.
Friends do walkin when the rest of the world walks out,i do also agree with u,but not always my friend, you should work for urself, not everyone can be with u at every time.

Maybe I should learn to stand on my own two feet, and do not rely too much on others. Thank you for your advice:)

Yeah, I understand. But I don't think I'll lose my friends if I can't find a job. Friends walk in when the rest of the world walks out. I'll find me back:)

Well friend, you can find a rich widow, all your problems will be solved. :), no I am kidding, I guess that we all pass for some sort of "down" time, specially when we are building up our own life, my advise is to try something new, donĀ“t give up to your studies or things you are involved now, just find another thing to do, a sport, a hobbie, a new friend, something that breaks the routine, and clarify your goals, this, for itself is the best motivator. Good luck with your studies, and keep the rich widow in mind, in case the other things fail. :)

Well, I like kids, I hope to be with them. So one of my goals now is to volunteer to a charity to help children in need. When I see the children smiled happily, I'll be happy too. That's my motivator:)

When you're in bed, on your way to sleep, think about your ultimate goal in life ... think about the steps you must take to reach that goal ... think about the steps that lead to those steps. And take your mind back there as you go about studying (careful to pull yourself back to reality as you do "real" things like eating, driving, etc.)

I just keep doing what you said these days. Being realistic really means much to me. If this situation continues I may not make my dream come true. I'll try my best!

Why haven't you decided to take fewer subjects since you realised you are unable to cope with that much workload ? I'm taking the IB right now, and I'm constantly about to breakdown. It's just too much work. Sometimes I don't sleep the whole night, but I feel good, because that's something I like. I'm doing stuff I love and that keeps me going. also, I know all that will be useful one day, so I try to do my best. However, when I feel a course is definitively rubbish I just pass it with the minimum required notes. Never worry about it, and in many cases I don't know how, but I pass ! You should try to focus on what you are really interested and push apart what you hate. That's what I do.
Good luck :)

Yeah, maybe you are right. I'm not so interested in what I'm learning. You are lucky to work at something you enjoy. I'm going to find the job I like!

Take a day or two off, you may think this is counterproductive but taking these days off and relaxing do something you love to do and then once your significantly relaxed you can design a learning plan which slowly brings you back into a good amount of study over say a week or two once your back you will do great!

Hi, I'm an university student too, and I've got the same problem~~ especially when I know there's a lot exams/test and assignments piling up. I just don't want to do anything and lay in bed doing. I know I can't do that anymore so I just call up my friends (that are in the same program) and we study together. For me, studying with someone beside me keeps me more focus, and I get a lot more done. You can try this too~~

Thank you for telling me that! I always hang out with my friends, play games with them and go to cinema with them. But I have never thought of studying with them. I think that's a good idea! I'll try!

I know how you feel. I was once a student who didn't like to study at all. I always crammed for exams. Sometimes, I even had to cheat especially on minor subjects. But for major subjects, I always had to do the hustle because it was the very foundation of my profession. I never graduated with flying colors though but I'm proud that I graduated because I strived.

Hey , my friend , what do you study at the university ?
Does it have mathematics in it ?
Many sciences have mathematic theory behind them and there for , require a lot of good ability and creativity , making conclusions and solving problems in the subject.
But , don't forget that you still have to remember as many basic facts as you can because those are the basics you can start work with.
Ok , there was a member here in Mylot and he complained that he was addicted to computer games like role playing games with monsters , magics , skills and quests.
I told him to think about the studdies as monsters and about reading and memory as attack and defense skill , magic points and etc...
A general tip for me will be : Take the things that you love to do in your life and all the things you are addicted to them and try to apply them on the studdies.
If you love staring on the ceiling , stare on the material , maybe ideas will start floating up in your brain.
If you are addicted to computer games , think about the things in your studdies as monsters you have to kill , quests you have to solve...
Hey , if you are addicted to Mylot , share us with questions that are hard to you
and we maybe help you or give you some new points of view.
I hope you will love studing with this idea. I always use that idea after I see I don't like studing and become lazy too much.

I study computer science at the university. It needs silence and the methodical skills of logic. You have to evaluate the situation and do what is logical rather than what simply feels right. It is kind of difficult for me. So I feel really stressed when I study it. If you lose concentration you get it wrong, that is the key. I'm afraid of it. But I'll try using the method you told me. The difficulties are just monsters in the computer games. What I need to do is defeating them:) Thank you for your advice!

I'm a student too, in my senior year in high school so I have lots of studying to do next year. I don't like studying either, it gets really boring and all I want to do is just sit back and relax. But I tend to feel really guilty if I don't study because I don't want to fail or do bad in my exams. Sometimes I just push myself to study even though I rather procrastinate, once I start opening my book and reading my notes, I realized that I get into it. I usually spice up my studying by listening to the radio at the same time. I have no idea how I can concentrate from that but music actually makes me study better If you want eat while you study, do something to motivate you to study. Once you get into it, you'll won't stop Then after studying, I reward myself which makes me feel good!

Don't just give up on yourself it's not all about studying,I mean sure you have to work hard to get the best out of it but take a break sometimes, get out have fun,see your friends talk to them about your feelings about your fears it's the best cure.Think about what will be when you just give up what perspective do you have for your life.To quit is easy to but not to give up is hard, don't let it stress you too much and never give up :).

I think that it is the study pressure that makes you feel lazy to study. It shows that you need to have a good rest from the stress. You might take part in some activities together with your classmates to see how it works. After some time of feeling relaxed, you might find it more effective and concentrated in your study. May you be good luck to get back to your normal and daily study at college. Take care.

The question is when I do something I like, I feel guilty. Thus, I can't really relax myself. Maybe I should take a load off my mind and get a really good rest:)

You have to remember what your goal is after finishing your studies. Staying home and staring at the ceiling will allow you to allow time to pass you by.
There is no way around life, so may as well do something productive. If you can remember that at some point you have to get a job and not studying and doing well in school will cause you to fail and then what will you do for work?
Keep the goal in mind and say to yourself, 2 - 4 years that it will take to finish schooling will pass with or without me so may as well make use of the time. There is no turning back the clock.

wow, calm down my friend.. You have to be relax and look at mirror and outside windows..Many unfortunate people willing to study at university but they just can't afford due to financial problem..I remember to have one of my close friends at college, he really fed up and wanted to leave college for his own business..And he almost dropped off for that reason..Lucky, he has many good friends who want to listen and give him motivation..Finally, he can pushed himself and graduated even took 2 years longer than most of us..Now, he is a successful businessman and he always there to help us if we have any problem..
