Do you feel like it's shaking

I have an earthquake phobia so every time that I feel like it's shaking, I immediately check if my mug is really shaking or if the water is moving. However, most of the times, it is not really shaking although I've felt like it did. Is it because of high blood pressure or something? A friend told me that he experiences the same thing and it may be because his cholesterol is high. Do you think that this shaking feeling is a medical condition?

I don't think it's a medical condition, but it's probably stress related. At least that's how it is with me. I get this feeling all the time - but in particular when I'm tired, or when I've had a lot of coffee. The worst part is when I'm right, and there is actually an earthquake - it only accentuates my phobia more

It may well be. I am always in a stressful and tiring situation at work so it may be triggering this phenomena. Yeah, I remember that there are two instances in our office when it really shakes. We are about to go down from the 46th floor of the building but thankfully, it stops immediately.

If you want to be sure, try to see and consult a doctor. If you think it's abnormal you better have it check. Only the expert on medical thing can answer your question and it is better to be sure than putting your trust on people's words.

I will for sure before my Health card expires together with my employment but I just find it funny if a doctor asks me what my problem is, and then i will say " I feel like it's shaking", he might refer me to a mental hospital. :) But anyway, thanks for your thoughts!

I live in denver of USA. I have also felt this shaking. It was ever so slightly and i had though, "was that just me or am i actually feeling something". I had never felt that before living in this area. I later found out that people here have actually felt tremors. I felt it most in the area near the mountians where there is a fault line. Are there earthquakes in your area? Medical checkups are always a good idea. Thell the doctor what you felt too.

If it has nothing to do with a real earthquke, it might be a stress or other related illness. If it´s unbearable, you must go to a doctor to have it checked. Go and have a checkup. I´m very much afraid of earthquakes, but they are real. I am sitting in the second floor of my house, where my computer is, and suddenly it starts to quake. I turn out heaters in Winter and run down. I never come out to the second floor at night without leaving the stairs light on although I´m very concious about saving energy. But my country is famous for having the worst earthquakes ever recorded and besides having the gold medal on 1960 (I was alive and remember,9.5 Richter), the last big one was last year,8.8 Richter, 5 times bigger than the one in Haiti, two point less than Japan´s, 9.0 Richter. When it really trembles, the mug does not move that much: the entire house shakes and creaks, things fall, lamps dance. Fortunatly in my country we have experience in building for earthquakes so casualties are low as compared to other countries.

I would suggest that you should go to your physician and tell him your problem. Doctors are known to answer us anything that is related with health problems. There is nothing wrong if you will go and consult your doctor about that problem. Take care always. =)

Yes I started to be cautious about it since the Japan was hit by tsunami and strong earthquake last March(?)... because after that a lot of movements has been felt in various places of the world, including my country and hometown. I was so paranoid and always feel like its shaking and would immediately look at the frames hanged on our wall, and on other things I supposed will shake if there's an earthquake. But I don't know whether it can be because of some medical condition. But sometimes I guess it would be because of our heart beat.

I think the best thing for you to do is to consult a doctor. Medical experts are the only one who can answer you doubts. As you have said you have phobia about earthquakes so there is a possibility that you always thought about it making you think that it's true whenever you sense something different.

Since you say you have an earthquake phobia my first thougth is you are staying alert whole time if something is happening. So it's in your head/mind. I do think it's normal if you really have a phobia. Might be it has to do with high blood pressure or something else too. If you want to be sure about that you should visit a doctor. But even if you have high blood pressure you will still have that phobia. A phobia makes us behave different, we are more alert, more careful and if badly it will have a big influence on our life style. If that is the case with you too, you can't be that relaxed it's worth to work on that too.

Me too sometimes i feel like there is an earthquake but i have no earthquake phobia. It's just my muscles (even though im young) are tired and well i think they call it spasms, i dont have enough rest because of school work and other things. Sometimes when i feel that and there is no real earthquake i just s;eep and there im as good as new when i wake up Ever feel when you are sleeping it seems like you're falling? That is another case of muscle spasms. If you want to be sure well consult your doctor. :P
