I was really shocked when I read that Gap, the famous clothing line is now closing its 189 store from North American area. I know that recession is still on the rise. I hope this recession stop. If not many people will lost work and earnings as well.

Really? Why is gap closing down so many of its shops in North america area? Gap is not an expensive brand to begin with and if zara, mango, forever 21 and others are able to survive, i can't see why GAP cant hang on? It's a big surprise for me. Take a look a Guess, it's still around evem its popularity drop a lot in the last decade, so GAP, i'm surprised! It's such a waste and if their outlets here are closed as well, i have one place short to shop for my clothes

I am sad to hear that they are doing this and I agree with you on the recession I wish things would go back to where people had employment and an income it would help the economy out so good.Maybe Gap will change their minds about doing that.Have a great day.

Well, there are a lot of clothing stores around right now. I went to the mall the other day, Ontario Mills in Ontario, California, and there must have been more than 50 clothing stores in that one mall alone. How they all manage to stay open in this recession is beyond me because I am 100% sure that the 99% do not have enough to purchase three to four, or more, articles of clothing and accessories each month. Also, with everything going up in price, it is a wonder that people have enough to buy anything at all.

I have been hearing this for quite some time now. It's all a result of the bad economy here in america. This country is falling apart. But remember this, Gap and Old Navy are the same company, so they might close so many of each. Also, this is what happens with these big chain stores, they always wind up putting themselves out of business. They did after all kill the little stores that used to be around.

Well, I have heard about that. Many stores worldwide are also affected by this economic downturn.sometimes hard for those who only has earning from their company.this makes me keep motivated to source my own online income.

I think it is because of the economy. Alot of people like to shop online also without travelling to stores.

I'm not surprised the Gap is expensive if you ask me. I rarely shop there and when I do I go straight to the clearance section and even those items are too high for me. Years ago I was able to find some cheap items there. I bought two pairs of pants and I hardly wore them. But they were cheap so I didn't mind. I also bought their perfume called Grass. It really did smell like cut grass I did like the smell but that was also years ago. I can't remember the last time I went inside a Gap.
Old Navy is the cheaper version of The Gap but I think Old Navy's clothes are cheaply made and expensive too. I've bought a few things for them that I like that was on sale but that was also a few years ago.

That is very sad. I love their clothes. They are quality but not expensive. I guess the influx of cheap, Chinese made clothes in stores like Walmart, are hurting them.

I was not aware and can see from your link that my area is also going to be affected. The sad part is that many will now lose their jobs. This is sad as many depend on their earnings from work and with the holidays coming up many will be without a job.
I believe it has to do with the rising prices of so many things. With people trying to save money perhaps they are no longer shopping at Gap. I use to shop their but they are very expensive. I have gone to Kohls and have been able to get Gap jeans, especially while on sale and or on clearance for much cheaper.
