Yes, I do commute everyday. I prefer taking the public transport rather than taking our car to work because of the traffic, the high cost of gasoline, high rates of parking spaces and most of all, you can't sleep while driving. hahaha... When I travel, I also choose the public transport of that city to go around rather than take a tour package. You never know what you might bump into if you commute and that in mind keeps my travels interesting. hahaha...

Yes I am a commuter too. It's exhausting and a hassle specially when I am feeling really sick at work... going for a long ride on the bus or cutting trips is really not easy. But I guess what's fun about it is you get to experience a lot of funny things. Sometimes you'd meet some friends you havent seen for a long time. Sometimes you'd see strange things and hear a lot of odd gossips from other commuters. Having my own car is just a dream. First, I don;t have enough money buying a new one, Second, maintenance as you said is really hard especially that I don't know much about machines. Third, I don't know how to drive and I feel scared driving on the road what more I was the one maneuvering the wheels! I've had the opportunity to learn to drive but I told my boyfriend I wouldn't want - maybe one day I'd have a change of mind and likes learning how to =) I still don't know...

some are boasting off with each other. Some about their bosses. some about the hardships and issues they have in the family hahahah. Sometimes about boys, their heartaches, their dates, how they are going well in school and in office. I sometimes feel I know the whole life of the person hahahaha. The annoying part is the guys who take advantage of girls, i hate those sick maniacs!

I live in a rural area and my commuting experience has been to drive 30 miles to work. I love the commute as I get to listen to books on tape.

Thirty miles? Wow. I am not fond of long trips so I make it a point to work near where I live or live near where I work. But it is good you are able to find something enjoyable to do during your long drive.

I am not a daily commuter, although once in a while I do commute. I commute when I don't have a car available or when nobody will be able to fetch me. I commute maybe once every 2 to 3 months. I also have my own rule to commute only during the day. In my country, commuting at night is dangerous. The only advantages of commuting, as far as I know, is that it is cheap and faster. Despite these advantages, driving in my own car is still the best.

yes i am and i had been a commuter for all my life now as i don't drive... i would like to get my licence soon so that i can drive by myself soon as i think that it is more convenient rather than taking public transport... the only thing that i dislike about public transport is sometimes it is not reliable and too crowded... other than that, i don't mind taking public transport... take care and have a nice day...

In the Philippines the word "commuter" is used to refer to people who take public transportation. However, to "commute" simply means to travel regularly from one's home to one's place of work or place of study. Therefore, we who go back and forth our offices or schools and our homes are all commuters. I commute daily to my workplace which is a good five minutes away and I do that via public transportation.

In the past I was a commuter. I worked in another town, and I didn't have a car, so I always used public transportation. I usually didn't mind commuting, because I really liked the job that I had and I always tried to make good use of the time. I always carried a book in my bag so that I was able to read while I was waiting for the train and while I was on my way to my home or my job. Sometimes I also picked up a copy of the free newspapers that are available at the train stations. If I worked during the day commuting was never a problem, but sometimes I had to work late at night and that could be a problem, because there were few trains at that time of the day. Another thing I didn't like about commuting late night was my worries about my safety, because there were very few people around at that time.

I'm not a commuter. I don't like taking public transportation because I don't like being exposed to bad fumes and I couldn't stand traffic jam. I could do away with that when driving because i could take short cuts and get to where i am easier and faster. Got no problem with gas coz i bought a new car that consumes as of the moment 12.4:1 ratio of gas and after reaching 5000km it might go up to 15:1. Perfect for me!

Yes, it is really hard to take public transportation because of the things that might happen.Lucky for those you have cars (can afford to have one) they don't have any problem with that.In my case. I do have service (sort o a shuttle) during morning and after office, together with some people who also work here.We all know each others so nothing to worry about.

i am both. sometimes if i wanna come home late and don't have that much money, then i go commute, but usually i drive. why? because it's hassle free, smoke free, no noise pollution, and many more. i think the advantage of a commuter is only the cheap fare, and i think that is only it.
@ardoy0731 (7308)

Hi Ardoy :) Yes, I am a commuter. I usually take the local train. But if it's winter, I prefer walking because my office is just nearby. And I love the cold breeze while walking. I guess the main advantage of being a commuter is it's cheaper. You don't have to pay for gasoline. And if you are in a city, it's better to use train than your own car to avoid traffic.
