Hi, I will be buying my new laptop today evening. Have asked a friend to accompany me to help me decide which one to select. It has to be something that I can comfortably carry with me when I go out on vacations. Now I cannot decide what internet connection to take. Can anyone in Mumbai city help me out with this? What would be the best option for unlimited browsing. Because I think at home once I start mylotting I may end up sitting the whole day on the Computer.

Wow! Congratulations! I am sure by now you are the lucky owner of a lovely laptop computer. Congratulations again Nora. I think, broadband connection is good. Slow, steady and cost effective. Go for unlimited plans. You will be care free and can be 24x7 online.

Thanks a lot dear. This is my first post from my new laptop. Have now taken an MTS broadband connection with free use for one month. Will then take an unlimited connection only because I dont think a limited timing will be enough for me.

Hi Mayka! It is nice to hear that finally you are going to buy a laptop of your own. Hope you have already decided and ear marked, which particular laptop you are going to buy? (which brand are you going to buy?) I think you could go with MTNL Broad Band unlimited pack to operate your laptop, if you need to operate it through your home only. You could check the details from MTNL. In Delhi, it is Rs.700/- per month for unlimited browsing/surfing. If you decide for MTNL Broad Band, ask them to install wireless Modem for you, so that you could access the internet on your laptop in any area of your house. All the best.

I bought the Acer laptop last evening. Small and comfortable to carry. Took the MTS internet connection. Just now its free for one month. Will later check my usage and then decide what plan to take. Getting MTNL was a bit troublesome. Lets see this one now and if not satisfied may be could change it later.

I can't but if you have not bought your computer yet, I always suggest a Mac by Apple. They have none of the issues that Windows-based computers have.

hello fellow Mumbaikar Mayka, congrats on deciding to buy a laptop. For the internet you could go for MTNL,which i have got and been using since the last couple of years.I went for the Unlimited one which costs Rs 395/mth and you can go for the wireless modem which costs Rs 600,supplied by them.I have had no problems with them so far.You can ask around your locality and see if anyone has the same. You can also contact them on 1503 to get all details.I have a desktop so i went for the wired modem which is cheaper.

I did not want to take a wired connection because I wanted to carry the laptop with me whenever I went out on holidays. I finally took the MTS connection because the network is very good in the area that I live and everyone in my area is very happy with the service. Have got an unlimited connection free for one month. Will see my usage and then decide what pack to take later.

For comfort , and you can adjust with a Small Screen (10") Then Hp Mini will the best available one . This one is good when you think of traveling . It will sit quite comfortably in your travel bag. 2 GB of memory and 500 GB of space in hard disk. I think it will come for 18K. This one is my choice when I want a laptop which i need to carry everywhere.

I did buy the 10" Acer laptop because I found it reasonably priced and comfortable to carry. It cost me 15.5k. I am finding it quite comfortable. Only have to get used to the keyboard now after using the Desktop the whole day and having a big keyboard at my disposal.

Hi I am not from Mumbai you know that, my neice is there, she is a computer engineer with Wipro, if you want i can pm you her number, since you want to carry with you during vacations, a laptop is best; when i am away from home i carry my Toshbia laptop, i have chosen one with big screen though, but you choose smaller if you feel so.. while moving i access net through a dongle via airtel , but at home i access via my landphone, it is cheap, as retired govt servant i enjoy discount and pay 668 rupees for unlimited down load.. Thanks for sharing Best of luck. Professor

I finally bought the Acer laptop with the 10" screen because it was something that I would find carrying everywhere quite comfortable. I have taken the MTS net connection and quite happy with the speed. May have to pay Rs 999 for unlimited connection but just now I have got it free for one month.

I have been in Mumbai for the past few years and in my experience Hathway is the cheapest; however, I had no MTNL landline at home; if you have a landline phone of MTNL, the connection may easily be procured and this may also prove competitive. Please check with your neighbours about the cable they are using. In my compound it was MTNL but I could not get it due to some other issues of providing some documents. I had to opt for Hathway but later found it satisfactory. Now I have shifted to Chembur and here I am using HATHWAY BHAWANI which is also to my satisfaction; but you must use what is used by your neighbours because any problem can be crosschecked and rectified fast.

hi congratulations for your new laptop.think twice before selecting your lap and configurations.if you will prefer carrying your lap along with you then prefer any net connect(modem).compared to the broadband the cost and the plan will be costly.the usage is also limited from day and night.if you are using only at home, best to buy any broadband connection.BSNL is providing unlimited download plan with 256kb speed for just 750.rs/month.if you are govt employee you will get 20% discount also.you can use multiple PC'S with a single net connection.based on your requirement select your preferred one.

I am not a Government employee so no chance of a discount. I took an MTS connection for which I have got one month free internet. Will see my usage this month and then decide what plan to take from next month.
