So I'm talking with a friend of mine who shall remain nameless, and she mentions that she's going to go take care of her facial hair. Huh? Facial hair? Well I don't have any (other than peach fuzz), but she says it's quite common. So, Poll - who among my female friends has this problem? Not Poll - so how do you take care of this? My friend uses some kind of cream. I think it would be quite weird to shave it.
Bearded lady anybody?

I have dark hair, so the lip hair shows up. I get it waxed or do it myelf occasionally. I also have chin hairs that show up, I think that pesky mole hair, I finally found the real root to because it's not shown back up in months.
Yeah don't shave it. My mom told me she used to pluck them with the tweezers - ouch! -

It only hurts the first couple times, then you get desensitized to it.

Put a warm wash rag to the area before plucking as this makes it easier to pluck

I don't know either as I also have just the peach fuzz, but I heard as we get older, that can turn darker to the point where one would either bleach it or shave/wax it. I will be interested in reading the other responses when I get home tonight..

Here in the Philippines most people have a light brown to medium brown complexion. I notice the facial hair in the few women who happened to be fair. The dark hair is very visible in contrast to the milky white skin. usually those with visible hair on top of the lip are also the ones who have thick hair on the arms and legs.
I guess I'm fortunate that the hair on my arms and legs are very fine and barely visible, that people often assumed I shave when I don't The hairs on top of my lips are also few and fine.
I have a friend with very fair skin but black visible hair on her arms and on top of the lips. She bleaches them. She says if they're shaved, the hair will regrow to be very stiff, like a man's moustache.

Ketcarneo, I think I shouldn't have said "shaved" but waxed, I think don't think hair grows back stiff if wax is used, but I am not sure, since I don't do it because my problem is not that apparent..

This is big problem for me and getting worse. I am 53 and in menapause. I have always had a facial hair problem, but it is much worse now.
My moustache is the biggest problem. I have dark hair, although the hair on my head has turned white, some of my facial hair still comes out dark.
I use a creme to remov the hair form my moustache. I have noticed that it grows back more quickly and more obvious the more I do this. There is too much hair to pluck, and I certainly wouldn't shave. I have used wax, but I find the creme a bit more effective.
I have individual hairs growing in various place son my face. They are easy to pluck with tweezers usually,, and some of them grow white now.
The problm I have with the individual hair is that I often cant see them until they are well grown.
I am seriously thinnking of electrolisis for my moustache. I don't know how much it costs or if it is painful?

sounds from the other responses that it can be painful, but that it isn't as expensive as laser.

my roomie could be a bearded lady, and I have another friend who's had stuff done to cut down on her face fur... the roomie shaves, I think the other friend does too, sometimes anyway
I had some whiskers in a former mole that I had treated, and now one that grows out under my chin - would like to get that one done too

I am very spotty, I have a LOT of moles, and I've had quite a few removed. I had one on my chin, the "former mole" I spoke of that I hated and was glad to see go away.
I have a few that I'm rather fond of, one on my left palm that I quite like...

I don't have a mustache.........I have a "Crumb-Catcher".........it's more like a car washer for food........I don't think I want to get rid of it because it helps keep the food entering my mouth clean........Besides sometimes my girlfriend likes to give me a quarter and ride on............WHAT?.............THIS IS THE "WOMEN" INTEREST?
.........never mind...........gotta go!

ya know, one mole might be lucky, a "beauty mark" perhaps, but 3 big ones on the face and over 50 on the rest of me... not so much... besides, if I didn't have bad luck I'd have no luck at all!
AND
moles can often be the sites where skin cancer starts....

I have tiny, nearly invisible, soft hairs on my chin but in amongst those I get some thicker ones every few months, maybe six or seven all up and I pluck these. It's hormonal but shaving makes all the hairs coarser, plucking is OK but they still come back. I don't know what using a cream would do. I wouldn't do it. I'd hate to be one of those dear old ladies you see with a hairy chinny chin chin.

When i was a little girl my grand parents owned a Bait Shop that sold fishing bait and tackle. There was a lady that used to come in to buy stuff allt he time, She had a mustache and many hairs on her chin. She was an older lady i knew because she had gray hair.
Many dark haired females have this problem. My aunt with black hair has mustache hair although not many they are still visable. She does nothing about them. her daughter, my cousin also started having them in our teen uears. Out of fear she started shaving them. Little did she know that would make it worse. She now has to shave a couple times a week.
My dark haired daughter once attended a modeling school which told her to shave. I warned her about what happen with my cousin. So she stopped using anything. Its hardly even noticable on her now.
Myself being lighter haired (about the same as my cousin) mine are not noticable either. But reciently i keep getting hairs on my chinny chin chin. I just get ahold of it and pull it out.
So i do believe its common but please dont ever shave.

I just find it hard to believe that the modeling school my daughter went to wanted her to shave. Her hair was hardly even noticable. She was only 15yrs then too. All they were concerned about was excellent pictures. They couldnt have cared less if they had caused her to shave her entire life. I think she actually shaved a couple of times before she mentioned it to me. But after i told her about my cousin she didnt do it anymore.

I have a mustache lol. But it is not dark and can only be seen at an angle
My mom gets hers laser removed and buys a deep mirror to see the hair before it even decided to pop up
My sister shavers hers like a retard but I refuse to touch mine.
Unless it gets dark enough then I will get lazor. Never shave.

Yeah I do believe it is. My aunt always shaved hers because she said she could never afford laser. I think laser is expensive due to the fact every so many months you have to do it again. The hair does eventually come back just not as fast as when you get it shaved or plucked. Plus I think it hurts at first. My mom was always red when she got done. I know after a while she quit going because she said it was expensive and she could no longer afford it.

WOW! I don't have a beard. I have fuzz too. However, I do get a coarse wisker or two. I choose to pull those out. They just grow back it's a visious cycle. You can't see them but I can feel them. Who knows if I couldn't feel them they may grow long enough to see. I sure hope I don't lose my touch sense. Best Wishes!

I don't have facial hair. As a matter of fact, I don't really have much of body hair too. My friends say i am luck to not have so much of body hair but I do feel I save a lot on hair removal and stuffs
And I had this friend. She used to get annoyed of her facial and as a solution bleached her mustache.

Most women who are post menopausal have some facial hair. I have a light little half mustache on my lip.. I pluck mine. My left side is not a problem.. just fuzz, but my right side is about a half inch of blond hairs.. I also have a few on my chin that I pluck also. I tried using that NAIR stuff, but that burns my face so I just pluck it every few weeks.

well i don't have any such problem but i feel its hormonal.your friend can opt for threading of upper lips too as it will take care of her facial hair for long.

I used to have thin hairs above my lips as a child
kept shaving it , very thin and very short, but I could see it in the mirror
somehow I grew up and don't have it anymore
or if it's there, it's no longer visible w/o microscope LOL

Facial hair on women seems to be genetic. Those with very dark hair are more likely to have noticeable hair on their face. That is probably because dark hair is much more noticeable than very light facial hair. This is true whether the person is male or female. My father had auburn hair, but his beard was strawberry blond. He cow ld go 2 or 3 days without shaving, and one could hardly see his beard. It was the same color as his face. Oh, could it be felt, thought. He loved to "whisker" us kids, especially me.

I pretty much only have the peach fuzz on my face and it is nothing that concerns me at all.
Now, I've heard that it can get darker as you get older because of the hormonal changes that a woman's body goes through. If that was to happen to me, I would probably bleach it unless it would start to get long, then I would probably go and have laser hair removal.

Ha ha - no bearded lady here. But I do have more than just peach fuzz if you look closely. I haven't looked too closely lately, but back in the days it seemed a bit darker - and I did use that bleach cream that also seemed to bleach out my skin - hated it. And yah, I wouldn't dare shave it - I wouldn't want to risk having it grow in thicker and having stubble there - eek!

I don't have a mustache or facial hair. But I am now living in the middle east and I saw that lots of women there have this problem. They are very hairy, and have facial hair. I saw some who have beard and mustache. I had an office mate who had hair in her cheeks. They go to the salon to either bleach it, or wax. Laser hair removal is very popular here.
