How long do you study before you take the quiz, test, or final exam?

I read that it is a good idea to study for short amount of times. I also read that it is a good idea to take short breaks in between studying. I think it helps, I seem to understand and remember the material better. I have started studying for about thirty minutes at a time then take a break. Before I take the test or quiz I relax. I think relaxing before I take the quiz helps me to think better while I take the quiz. I also think it helps with stress because I don't seem so stressed out while I take the quiz.

Relaxing helps me too. I like to study at a leisurely pace and not for huge periods all at once. In my opinion, cramming is never a good way for me to learn anything.

I agree. I used to try to cram everything in a day or two before a test. Now I try to study in short periods and take a few more days to study. I have been doing better on test, and I don't feel as stressed out.

Thanks for the best response! I think that we all do better when we aren't under a ton of stress.

I don't get a lot of tests but when I get them and they seem simple to me I don't study all too much. Sometimes I learn one day before the test takes place. Especially since my German teacher likes me very well I get all kinds of advantages like being allowed to use my study books during the test. That way getting good grades is a piece of cake. :) My previous test was history and I got 8.9 out of 10. I didn't learn at all, it was about Vietnam War and it was very simple. :)

I study as long as it takes for it to sink in. If I feel that it hasn't sunk in yet, I take a break for a few minutes, and then I go right back to studying, but I will keep doing it until I feel that I have it. I try to relax as much as I can, but at the same time I know that if I don't study, I won't get it.

I understand. It's bad when you are taking a test and know that you are should have studied more. I like to relax right before the test but I also study. I will usually take about thirty minutes before I take the test and relax, if possible.

I think that it depends on how important the exam is. I always get all of my homework and classwork done during the course of the term which means that I will know a lot of the things already that will be on the exam. If it doesn't count towards our final grade then I will usually not bother to read over my notes. However, if it counts towards the grade that we get at the end of the term, then I will spend as much time as it takes in order to learn every single piece of information and learn it to the best of my ability so that I would be able to get a high grade.

I don't learn too much because I understand from class, but I repeat a little. I have trusted myself, in my forces.

Good day. I used to get a lot of quizes. In those days, it seemed like the only thing I did in a day is to study. And life was filled up with pressure. So I got busy preparing for those coming tests. But still I would give myself some spare time to relax after some time of studying. Now my life would be much more easier. There are fewer tests so I have more freedom. But in times of final exams, I still take them seriously and usually I would start to prepare for it since early. If you don't give yourself enough time to get prepared, the last days before tests would be a torture. But anyway, just feel relax and always give yourself short breaks. It helps you get efficient.

I agree that if you don't give yourself enough time to study then you would be stressed out right before the test or exam.

It is good to study a few days before a test.. the minimum would be 2 days, since studying the day before the test won't guarantee that all the stuff you studied would be stuck in your head.. You need god sleep and 2 or 3 readings.

During my uni days, I always studied at e last min. That is, I wld normally start preparing for major exams a few days b4 e exams. And being quite a hyperactive person, it wld not b possible for me to sit still. So, for me, taking breaks at intervals is impt.

Hmmm... If the test or exam is tomorrow, I will study tonight. :P I'm not good at studying, and I can't learn it although I have studied it for one hour :DD

I usually study the night before exams. But it is much better if you study ahead of time for an engineering student like me. Some students sleep and then they wake up in the middle of the night to study till morning. I've met a lot of people and they have their own ways and their own strategies to absorb their lessons well. They say that a maximum period of time to study is 2 hours and then they take short breaks (they eat, walk around and etc) and after that they continue studying. :)
