Heartburn when you're hungry?

Don't say it's not possible because it is. I'm living proof of it.
More often than not, if I don't eat, then I get heartburn. It's the indication that I have to eat, no matter what I want to do or not do.
I've got it right now, and I'm getting my dinner ready so it will go away. Once I start to eat, it will dissipate and I will be happier.
I hate it when that happens, but there's nothing I can do except eat when my body tells me to.
Do you get this too or is it just me?

Really I was not aware this could happen due to an empty stomach. I do have a very sensitive stomach and lots of things I do eat causes me to get heart burn. I have to be really careful with sausage and or sauces, as although I do like them very much they kill my stomach.
Maybe it has to do with acid in the stomach where when it is empty it kind of fees off of it. Not sure only guessing.

I think it's possible. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

HWG it sounds as if you are really sensitive to fatty rich foods. It is a sure bet if I eat something fatty too close to bedtime I will have reflux from it as well as the heartburn. Have to be careful to only eat small portions of icecream if I do it in the evening.

Yes, this is definately possible and I am sure there are many people who have experienced this a time or two. If it becomes too bothersome, then it is something worth bringing up with your Doctor and seeing if their is something more needing to be done. But since your stomach is empty it could just be a reminder telling you it is time to eat.

I'm wondering if that is what's going on with me right now. I ate breakfast several hours ago, but I am experiencing heartburn right now. I will have to try to eat to see if that helps. Have a great weekend!!!

I have had this before. It's your bodies way of telling you that it is time to eat. Also you can still have some acid in your body even though you haven't had anything to eat in a while. So it's best just to give in to your body and get something to eat. Then you will feel better.

heartburn i think is indigestion..it is due to the back flow of your stomach contents mostly acids that's why you feel like not eating
or something irritating..this back flow is also due to the lax of your cardiac sphincter(located after the esophagus and before the stomach)..this sphincter supposedly prevent return of acids and other stomach content to your esophagus..i suggest that after eating, sit upright and relax..

I think it is a pretty common problem. You get it because your body is producing extra stomach acid in preparation for having something to eat. It wants to eat. This is part of why they tell pregnant women not to let their stomach get empty as it also can lead to nausea. I always carried a small snack during my second pregnancy and I did not have near the discomfort and nausea that I had with my first. I think it happens as well with people who just need to eat to keep their body going.

I don't get the problem of heartburn if I don't eat. I just get to the point where I will literally throw up if I get too hungry.
It's probably that you are so hungry that your stomach is working itself up because of your hunger and the bile that digests your food is splashing up into your esophagus. I have G.E.R.D., which is gastro-esophageal reflux disease. I get heartburn so bad that it makes it hard to even breath sometimes...I feel like my windpipe is being squished! I'm on medication for it, but I get it from my stomach's reaction to the food I've already eaten.
I wouldn't worry too much about what's going on with you, but if it gets to the point where it's a constant issue...a trip to the doctor probably isn't a bad idea :)

Heartburn is a sign that there's something wrong with your stomach's acid secretion and regulation. What you need to do is, consult a physician, have some prescriptions, and take some antacids. If antacids are not available to you, you may try drinking water when you feel like you are having a heart burn. Always have a habit of drinking plenty of water.

Yeah it is very common for me also. That's why i will have my meals in time before having this pain.Having acidic food also makes me feel heart burn sensation. Avoiding this kind of food and having regular intervals in food habits makes me avoid this problem..

Yes I am just like you too! I hate it when it happens and I don't want to eat all the time when my stomach is burning itself because I want to lose and maintain my weight. But I just can't stand the fire like sensation in my stomach. But when I do eat, it simply goes away for a while until I need to eat again. Also, acidic food makes my heart burn even worse like oranges but I still eat it. Sometimes I eat some yoghurt to calm the pain down and make my stomach feel healthier. But when it does get pretty unbearable, I take medication for it. It always happens at night as I don't eat at night when I'm sleeping. Right now, it's hurting a bit as I just had dinner a few hours ago.
