Hi Doc... I think you should have been more elaborative about this short note of yours. Moreover, please note that myLot is a discussion site. You're new here, so you don't know it. Your post resembles an article and not a discussion....
The advice in your post is valuable, certainly... Keep that up!!!

Hi Mr_Pearl! He didn't ask us a question, like your thoughts? or what do you think.. but we can still discuss about stress.. I spoke about avoiding stress in my life because it affects my ability to speak. I think it is interesting to add to a discussion when it is possible, don't you?
I do skip some 'discussions' that are non-discussions if I can't add anything to it to make it a discussion though.. sometimes I just can't add anything.

Oh... yes, that wasn't a question.. What I said was, we need two sides for discussion and this is kind of a thing, with which everyone will agree... , so what are we gonna discuss... But yes, users can update what they know about it...
I too avoid a discussion where I can't add anything to it... Just too something about that...

I got hit with anxiety disorder, and I was told that this was caused by extreme stress. I was told to avoid coffee, and to live a more stress free life. Well, how could I? I live in a place where stress is the means of life here. All the neighbors are people one would not be able to understand. Therefore, I think moving to another place would be the answer. Perhaps the moon might actually be a good place for a vacation.

We have to have stress to survive, but too much stress can be a bad thing. I have suffered from way too much stress so that I couldn't even speak or think properly. I would go several minutes at a time not being able to make words to say... my mouth couldn't even form the words.. I still have these aphasic attacks under stress. I am avoiding stress now, and just doing what I feel I can do and avoid working under pressure.

I'm not good at yoga and haven't really tried meditation. When I get stressed I try to remind myself to breath, and that it isn't helpful to stress. I try to think logically about what is stressing me out and come up with a plan or solution to solve it. If that doesn't work, I look for a dog in the area, because they always make me smile : )

A little stress is good for us, but too much stress is an illness. When you are stressed out your mind is telling you that your sunconcious mind is worried about something. There is no one way of dealing with this, but you should first listen to your mind very briefly I say briefly because the more you go deep into your mind the harder it will get to know what is going around u. If you are stressed a lil bit you need not worry abou it, but instead think about stuff you want to do for the day, month, week etc as some stress are created by things that you are suppose to and you delay them. Sometimes you are stressed because you feel that you are failing things, you need to find solutions in your own mind, this a great way of keeping your mind busy in a positive way, lastly remember the connection between mind and body, therefore physical excersize whether walking, jogging, weight lifting, combat sport are all beneficial.
I once suffered from chronic depression and I had to find a means to deal with, I have now gone to complete my phd in psychology n psychotherapy.
Hope it helps.

Stress is a part of life in the relative world that we live in. For the past 30+ years I have practised zazen (Zen meditation) and as a therapist, I have specialized in stress management. The ultimate goal in Zen is enlightenment, but even looking for enlightenment will hold it at arms length. Resistance always causes reciprocal resistance from the mind. Therefore, to still the mind is bound to create stress, but as a Zen practitioner I use this stress to discover more and more of what it standing in the way of my progess, rather than trying to relieve stress. Paradoxically, accepting whatever is in one's experience eliminates that experience, In zazen, this is achieved by focusing on the breathing, and acknowledging all "messages" from the body.
After much practice, such mindfulness can be extended into every-day activities being totally present in the moment of here and now with each and every task, and dropping the habit of hurry and worry. When a person is totally in the here-now, stress cannot occur, but stress has to be accepted and transcended. It is not the evil that some people think it is. It has a lot to teach us on our journey. _Derek

I have heard of it and also watched some of it. I think you need to find a place where you will be far from what is causing you stress otherwise you will be disturbed in what you are doing. Soothing and calming scenes of nature makes sense. You need to manage your time to find way to do such thing especially for those housekeepers. I feel that by just saying the word meditation you are into somewhat leaving your physical stressed heavy body for a while and feel the lightness of your body by lifting it up flowing freely and that sounds good while having a deep breathe.

Maybe you can give some tips for busy people on the go and how they can do about with meditation. I do think that many people are already stressed simply because they don't have the time to do such things as meditation or things that extinguishes stress. Can you illustrate some easy meditation techniques that are quick and can be executed easily by busy people?

What I like to do when I feel sress out is go to the pool or take a bath not a shower! Showers are not relaxing. I only need to take one meaningful bath to realize that. I don’t need candles or pretty smelling soaps, I just need clean, hot water and lots of bubbles
I go get a massage
Americans do not do this enough. We tend to view it as overindulgence. It isn't. There is no substitute for a good massage – get the 90 minute one, if you can. If you can’t afford it, get one from a massage school, they’re always less expensive
Write it down
This is particularly useful when you’re really angry or upset with someone, but aren’t in a position to tell them exactly what you think or feel.
Create the habit of deep breaths: Why -- if you can get in the automatic reaction/habit of pausing and taking nice, deep breaths every time you feel stress beginning to take hold, you'll have won half the battle just by preventing stress from taking over.
Visualize and communicate your vision. Visualize and communicate your vision. Whether you talk to a friend or talk to yourself, getting concerns off your mind will help a lot. If you don't feel like talking about it, write it down. Keep a journal and write down whatever it is that's bothering you. Writing is a therapy of its own.

There are actually a lot of ways on how to handle stress. For me yoga and meditation is one of those. However, I am not practicing that one. I usually eat a lot just to cope with the stress I m having. Nowadays, my life is getting stressful and stressful. It is because I am having my OJT. However, I find time enjoying myself in foods and sometimes watching TV. These things may also loosen up yourself. Feel free to enjoy these stuffs too. And don't forget to sleep enough for yourself. It's also one of the best stress free hobby.

I have recently started practicing meditation and I'm getting good results. I could actually feel my tight muscles loosen and it feels great. Others who were doing meditation for quite sometime attest to the many health benefits they get, such as a better outlook in life, a more energetic body, etc. I promised myself to practice meditation on a regular basis. Hope I could stick to my schedule.

A pleasant day to you DrGuruindia,
Your main topic discussion is the one that I am looking and aiming for. To live and have a stress free life. But apparently, that is not the way I am walking into right now. As my life has an overflowing stress. Since the time I redirect to another career path and came back home after five years of working in a desk job type, the stress in my life has raised up to the maximum level. As my family does not want me here. My presence is not appreciated. As they are not talking to me as the usual manner. I really don't know what happened. I am just lifting everything to prayers. And perhaps, I can try the one that you have mentioned in your discussion, doing some meditation such as yoga. Hoping that it will works on me.

Yes friend meditation is a good way to live the stressful life. Because now every person has tension and only tension they have no time for laughing and those people help mediation and they should do the meditation.

Stress is a type of psychosomatic problem. It is a result of long hours of highly challenging work against very demanding time lines. It is also a result of negative impressions created by uneasy workplace. When we feel greatly challenged to deliver beyond normal human ability, it induces stress. It is first felt on mind and because of resultant sedentary life, it affects the physique. So body aches, head aches, stiffness and soreness all over are regular symptoms.
When mind is affected, it throws our breathing out of harmony. Due to anxiety, we gradually lose depth & rhythm of breathing and enhanced sense of pain results. Not every one may get an opportunity to learn or follow the technique of meditation. SO, I always practice & suggest simple breathing relaxation method. You need to spend 5 to 7 minutes of time about 2-3 times a day. Focusing mind completely on breathing process and gradually increasing the depth of each breath will provide relief to all the stressed nerve & bone cells making us feel rejuvenated.
I find relief from stress from regular, disciplined and orderly breathing technique.

Wow, I haven't really tried meditation and I think maybe it's too difficult for me. I prefer some common ways to help relieve stress. Usually, when I feel stressed, firstly, I would turn to my family or friends. I can tell them about my frustration and problems. From them I can always get good suggestions and comfort. If there is only me, then I will try to move my attention onto some personal hobbies. Focusing on them makes me feel less stressed. So I agree with the friend upstairs that stress can always be figured out as long as we can find a proper way to solve the problem.
But I don't think there is any method to make our life stress-free. That's impractical. Life itself is like a two-side coin. There are sunny days, so there must be gloomy days. That's how it works. If there is no stress any more, I don't think you would feel happy. Because the happiness we feel is based on the camparison with stress.
