My friend, please don't buy a second hand laptop. Usually, they are replaced by the owner because they are defective already, such as that battery.
I really don't know how long my laptop lasts because i would usually take it away after i have seen it tyo be more than 90% charged and use its electrical outlet. I don't use it on battery. So far, it's now more than two years with me and is still working very well.

Do not buy that secondhand laptop. Laptop batteries usually lasts 4-5 hours, or even longer than that. Ask your seller to change first his laptop battery before you purchase it. The life of laptop batteries become shorter every time you charge it while the battery is attached or you are overcharging your laptop. I'm sure he has done that that's why the battery only lasts for an hour.

Thanks for the inputs guys. Unfortunately, it was almost impossible to find a second hand laptop that has a good battery life- at least here in our country. The best that i can see online is up to 2.5 hours only. Is it advisable to just purchase a new battery?

Most old laptops usually have shorter battery life. Normally they can go for 2-4 hours depending on the model. But as they get older they also deteriorate and naturally will provide you shorter usage. New models however have great batteries and can even last for 6-8 hours. Perhaps the one you are about to buy has an old battery. Try to check it out and see if you can get a new battery for that and how long does the new battery will provide you power. If the new battery with the same model, will still give you one hour of usage, then I would say, forget that laptop and find another one with a battery that last longer.

If it's a real laptop, so included dvd player etc it's mostly only 1 hour.
If you just buy that netbook it's longer.
I would never buy a 2nd hand laptop, the battery of those or seldom great.
After 1 year it's harder and harder to work withou the net.
I have toshitba and it's a crime I can only do 30 min or less without the adaptor.
I will never buy such a laptop again. It's a big waste of money, bought it new.
I hear many people (no matter what kind of laptop they have) complain about the same problem. BTW mine is 17" so uses a lot too. Nex time I buy a 15" easier to travel with and I don't need the dvd player etc.

A new laptop usually lasts around four to six hours. One hour is not a normal length of battery. We have seven laptops at home with different brand and all lasts around four to six hours. But my laptop is already four years old so the battery is not that good anymore, it usually lasts around an hour to two.

you should buy new laptop. because sometimes when we buy second laptop, the battery wasn't in good condition again. normal battery will be last minimum 4 hours. if it is only last for an hour you must think twice to buy it.
