Are you a frequent flyer?, What is your worst Airline Experience?

If you are a frequent flyer, lets discuss what we usually encounter in any airlines. I had this bad experience in an international airline company. As I am flying back to work overseas. My company purchased a promo ticket, I just don't want to name Airline, because I already agreed on their proposal and I already signed indemnity claim. The story happened like this. When a flight attendant offered dinner on board, I checked all the food, since I like salad veggies, I started to consume the salad. But to my surprise! there was a long blonde human hair on the plate. I directly called the attention of the flight attendant who gave my share. She apologized and then after a while, Their cabin manager came in and talked to me that this is an isolated incident. They apologize and noted my complain. Since I am a frequent flyer member of that airline, I put my complaint in to their customer service box. After almost a week, customer service staff called me up and gave me the progress of my complaint. And as a good gesture of their apology, They offered a business class seat upgrade to my next flight. How about you? what's your worst airline experience?

My worst airline experience would be having our bags in another province while we were in a different one. Turned out, our luggages were labeled to be in that province while our destination was different. too bad, we weren't offered business class or any thing. another was our flight got delayed 2hours, we were supposed to take off at 12.45am but our plane got delayed so we left the airport at around 3am already. we almost got left behind by our connecting flight.

Hi Loidee, You've got the worst and funny airline experience. I could imagine how incompetent those airline and ground staff transferring your luggage s to another destination. sometimes, airlines will call passengers in advance if the flight is cancelled or a little bit delayed. But in your case, this is again another form of incompetence to the staff.

Due to going to many different countries I fly on a different airline nearly every time. I traveled this year with Iberia which is a Spanish airline. I went from London to Cartagena via Madrid and Bogota. That was my worst airline and the flight experience was awful. I traveled with my 4 year old disabled son in his wheelchair and my daughter aged 2. We got on the plane in London at 7am but we had to sit on that for 2 hours before it departed. The problem was fog so I heard. We arrived so late in Madrid and therefore missed our connection to Colombia. Luckily a Colombian airline let us travel with them and we got put on the last two seats in economy. That plane arrived at around midnight in Bogota. We got put in a hotel because we missed the last flight on to the coast. We flew on early the morning but when we arrived our luggage was missing. It arrived at our hotel around 24 hours later but with 3 items missing. Understandably I wondered what the flight home would be like. We traveled in 2010 on British Airways from London to Vancouver and that was fine. We traveled in 2009 from London to Cape Town on Virgin Atlantic and that too was fine. In 2008 I went on an Ryan Air flight and it was okay. In 2007 I traveled on Easy Jet and that was okay. In 2006 I traveled on First Choice Airlines and had an excellent time being put in business class. In 2005 I traveled First Choice Airlines and had a fine time. In 2004 I traveled on Air Kenya and had a fine time. In 2003 I traveled on Ryan Air and had an okay time. In 2001 and 2002 I traveled on Air New Zealand and had an excellent time. In 2000 I traveled on Qantas and British Airways and they were fine flights. My favorite airlines are Qantas, Air New Zealand and Virgin Atlantic. My worst airline is Iberia that I experienced earlier this year. They should have let their passengers know what was going on. They should not have mislaid our luggage and send it much later from Madrid.

Hi maximax8, Nothing to be blame by this inefficiency and incompetence but the airline company. I doubt some of this airlines has quality management control. What I usually do when I have this worst experiences, I directly file complaint to the airline website c/o to the customer service. Fortunately, They responded to my complaint and made appropriate action that made me satisfied.

I flew to Kenya and back with Belgium Air, on the return journey, we took off from Nairobi and flew first to Kampala but here we were refused fuel, apparently the company had not paid its fuel bill or at least that is what we heard. After a long wait we flew on through the night. I awake at dawn, wondering how we could still be aloft. We landed in Geneva, the plane had flown high and slow to conserve fuel. Another long wait before we flew to Frankfurt too late of course for the interconnecting flight. Finally we were transferred to British Airways to get us home. Brussels Air had lost many people's luggage and no apology was ever issued! all the best urban

Hi urbandekay, What a sad story, Truly flying sometimes is not of excitement alone but worrisome. Some of my colleague also experience like lost or missing baggage. The other worst experience I had was last July,I missed my flight to Bahrain. I though my flight schedule would be 11 night but it was 11 am as in morning.

ha ha ha, funny feeling ha. Well, you better get used to flying. It's the only fastest transportation we've got to day. Trust those airlines in the Philippines they are highly competitive like other Asian airlines now.

My worst experience happened when my plane experienced some technical problems. We weren't able to land the normal way because of those problems and we kept on flying around and around. I was scared that we wouldn't be able land safely on the ground because of those problems. Fortuneately the pilot handled the situation very well and he got he managed to land safely despite the problems. The landing was different from a normal landing and it wasn't very pleasant, but we got back safely, that is definately the most important thing.

Hi Porcospino, I could the see the climax and the excitement. But this situation over weighs the horror experience. I think, airlines do have some protocol on this matter. It is indeed scary while on board and your plane had some technical problems.

I haven't got any worst experience in an airline. It's just that when I boarded one Airline offering a cheap ticket which I am not gonna name too... the food wasn't good at all, the rice is raw. I actually had a really bad headache because I was starving!

Hi enelym001, Thank you for your response. Sometimes, we should not expect what is best in a airline offering cheap tickets. They are serving according to the tickets we bought. And that is bad but more often we've experienced in a low cost airlines.

I'm sorry to say this, but your experience don't seem to be bad to me at all. In fact, it seems to be a good one, from my point of view. Having hair in your food is bad. But getting a business class upgrade certainly is good. Not just that, the airline staff seems to be very good in customer care. The cabin manager came and apologised, then they give you an update on your complaint. My worst airline experience....hm...I've got two, actually. One is with Air India and the other with Turkmenistan Airlines. With Air India, I was traveling with infant. The service was bad, no staff wanted to be bothered with anything. Aircraft was dirty, toilet in the aircraft was dirty. I could go on and on. I booked a bassinet seat, but was not provided a bassinet. With Turkmenistan Airlines, the aircraft was old and my seat would not recline, which was very annoying on 9 hours flight. Flight attendant were not around very much. When we were landing, many people got up from their seats while landing....that is not even before we touch the ground, and no flight attendant were around to ask them to remain seated.

Practically, you are right compared to what you've experience. On the flip side, my experience might be a big blow to that airline company and to their catering services. They apologized and give a peace offer. That was absolutely better on my side.
