Rude Surprise!

My husband manages a local convenience store. We had our first snow of the season the other day. A man left his truck running to stay warm, and ran in the store for a cup of coffee. When he turned around, his truck was gone! They looked on the surveillance tapes, and 12 seconds after the man left his truck, another person got in it and drove off with it! The cameras only caught the side of the truck so not a good look at who got in it and took it! What a rude surprise! He was probably on the way to work and stopped for coffee! What a world we live in!

That is very sad! The poor guy now has so many worries, like how he's going to get his truck back, and get to and from work, or to and from what he needs to do. I hope that the police find the truck and the guy or girl who stole it soon and throw him in jail!
It's terrible! I know I'd be sick with anger and worry about how I am going to get to and fro!

Gee, that's rough!
Too bad about the snow, too. I saw on the news that the northwest of the states was blanketed with heavy snow and power outages, and that it was moving up to Atlantic Canada. Hope your snow wasn't that bad.

We got 3 inches of heavy wet snow, but it didn't stay on the streets at all, so driving was only on wet pavement, thank goodness.

Why is it a surprise? Anyone who reads the paper, watches the news or listens to the radio--or just looks around them--would know that leaving a vehicle running is an invitation. I'm sorry his truck was stolen but really, turning it off for a minute or two won't make that much difference. It'll be cold when he gets in but the engine is warmed up and the heat will come on right away.
In my state it's against the law to leave a vehicle running and unattended. That doesn't stop people from doing it, of course, and insurance companies frequently refuse to pay claims when this happens.
We are in charge of most events in our lives. That man had complete control of this particular situation but made the wrong choices. Like I said, I'm sorry but this man and many others have to wake up and smell the coffee then act accordingly.

That is sad, although the way things are going, no sure I would have left it running. Things are getting bad and people are doing things they would not normally do. I am worried for the million people without electric for a week, as it is going to leave people pretty desperate. I hope he gets his truck back.

People nowadays simply have no conscience whatsoever. I hope the guy gets caught!!! That was really brazen. I'll have to tell my husband to lock the doors even when we're in a parking lot.

The world is getting a lot of mean people.
So in order that we will always be secure with our things, we should always have a close watch of it, specially when we are outside. Like that truck, it should have not left running, because it sure can be easily driven away, if it's left running.
