I have heard a lot of people say that 40 is the new 30 these days. What do you think about that? Do you think it is true and why? I think in a way it is because my generation (I am in my 40's) cares a lot about staying young, and staying more trendy and we try really hard to stay young in our minds as well. What do you think about the the 40's being the new 30s?

I think all ages seem to be younger than what we used to think they were but then maybe that is how we feel as we start to get older ourselves, but I really do think people just don't settle for the number and stay young, think young and you stay young I think.

40 is sooooo much better than 30; you still have your youth along with the added advantage of knowledge acquired over an additional decade. Social labels are not as restrictive as years gone by so it has become socially acceptable for those in their 40's to partake in activities once reserved for those in their 30's. I suppose if can be said that 40 is the new 30

Now my generation had a saying "life begins at 40" and I remember seeing people who were turning forty and were gorgeous, healthy, and slim. I think life begins over and over again as you try to be the best you can.

Oh I do hope so as I'm 45!
My Mum (who is 65) bought a pair of jeans the other day. She'd been "umming" and "aaaring" about them for months. I told her that she should wear what she wants as "everyone else does" and it's true, they do!
She looks good in them too..and has bought another tighter pair that are like drainpipes!
Awesome!

I agree with you. I think they say that specially for women like us because in my case I'm in my 30's but I still got other things to do. There are times that I haven't figured it out yet. Career women as they say, and with regards with settling down and have a family of my own. Most of my friends are single too and still needs time for themselves. Well there's nothing wrong if 40 is the new 30 and it all boils down on looking good and feeling good about yourself.

I believe that the 40s and the new 30s these days with most people being very fit and trying to stay young looking. I am 39 years old and will be 40 years old next year. I have just joined a sports center to do swimming, gym and fitness classes. I wish to lose weight and improve my fitness. I know people in the 40s and they look in their 30s. Maybe aged 50 is the new 40. It would be refreshing to think so.

Well they do say life begins at 40, some people do look great for their age. I know my mum does and shes 57 this yr, I guess it also depends on what kind of life you've had. My cousin looks a good 5 to 10 yrs older and shes only early 40's, but has been thru a fair as well. Many older people are out walking a lot more to help them stay in shape, and are not as prone to eating the junk food as they weren't brought up on it like the younger generations.

I don't or never mind my age.
I am also on my forty's and everyone thought I am still on my 30's.
I have 3 young teens and people never believed that they are my kids.
Most of the time they're mistaken us as siblings.
I like it...thu

Yes it is used quite a bit more these days as many are becoming more independent and living youthful more these days. Since more and more people are living much more it seems that age is only a number to some and living more youthful is a great way to continue to feel younger then one actually is.

Does it mean people matures slowly today? I think some people still look young at 30 and does not look very mature. Unlike before when someone is 30, a person is really mature physically and emotionally. Others have their own family at 30 while today many are still unmarried at the age of 30.

I truly believe that, mainly because people are living longer and not looking their age. They are trying to keep their bodies healthy through eating right and exercise. I'm soon to be 55 years old but most people actually look at me and think I'm in my thirty's. People can't believe that I have two grown daughters in their 30's. In fact my dad who is 76 years old could definitely pass for 60. I guess it also has to do with good genes. Now don't get me wrong there are also alot of people who don't fall in this catergory because they don't take good care of themselves. I know of people who are my age and look ten to twenty years older. So it all has to do with how you respect your body and mind. How you feel about life and keeping upbeat and happy. We don't want to age like most of the generations before us.

I actually agree with this thought also. If you look at the 30's to the 40's now you will see people not only doing cosmetic things to make them look younger, but I believe in the sense of being healthy and less disease people are doing even better also. Living longer, living stronger, living better. Happy Mylotting!
