Questions about applying for an EON Card

I'm planning to apply for an EON card and as I was browsing through the discussions, I came across a link on how to, but I have some questions and here they are: 1. I'm unemployed at the moment but I have an SSS ID which is like the ATM version but it's kind'a old, is it still acceptable because what I read from the instruction was "New Social Security System (SSS) card"? 2. Since I am unemployed, the only valid ID's or certification I can acquire are the postal ID, barangay certification, police clearance and that SSS ID that I have. Are they enough? 3. About the "Submit a fully accomplished EON Visa Debit Card Application form" part, where can I get the form? Is it downloadable here on the net or is it available at UnionBank branches? Thank you in advanced for answering my queries

You don't really need an SSS ID, you just need an SSS number and a TIN number. If you don't have TIN, you need to have one. Further, you don't need a form, you will type or fill up that form in a computer an any UnionBank Branch. You're going to need photos and photocopies of the documents that you have. And about P350.00 for the enrolment fee. It's quite easy. No need to fret or something. Good luck! Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

Thank you too laydee, eventhough I'm a little bit confused about the tin number thing. I used to have one before when I'm still employed but now that I'm not, can i still use that same tin number?

Yep! You can only have one TIN number or else you will be breaking the law. I am also planning to apply for a Unionbank EON card, however, the PhP 350.00 fee is really annoying. I only got a small amount of money in my Paypal account that is why I am trying first to accumulate more money before applying for that EON card. Is there any way that I can apply for such a card by means of online transaction only?

For the form , you ca get it at any Unionbank branch near you. Just fill out te form and submit it to them. Show your SSS ID and postal ID. The SSS ID has a lifetime SSS no. that is yours during your lifetime so it doesn't need to be new. You will be notified through your phone, once the card arrives. And when you go to the bank to claim it and sign some forms, give your annual fee of PhP350.00 . For me, it only took 3 days for it to arrive from Manila. Then after two days, register it at the site they will give you. Good luck my friend.

If I were you, if your purpose is to verify you Paypal account. I prepare to apply SMARTMoney card. It's simple no blah blah blah as long as you have your valid ID such as SSS either old or new or postal ID. SMARTMoney card cost only 120 pesos unlike EON cost 350 to have yours. I have both cards but I prepare to promote SMARTMoney because of the simplicity of application.

I've been told by a friend that his application for Eon card was rejected because Union Bank has suspended issuance of such to individuals. They only issue Eon Cards now to Companies for their employees for the purpose of withdrawing salaries. I am not sure if this is true. You can ask and verify from the Union Bank. If this is not true then your SSS ID and postal ID are enough to open and Eon account and even any savings account actually.

Thanks for the info salonga, I will surely verify it first with Union Bank and I also hope that its not true because I've read that EON card is the most effective means for transacting businesses online.

laydee mentioned, that sss number and tin number could suffice in applying for eon debit card. What if the person has no tin number because he is still a student or unemployed? BIR doesn't give a tin number to a person without an employer. What should be done to that? Is tin number really a requirement?

Postal ID is accepted as well as your SSS card provided there is no expiry written on the SSS card. If they are asking for 2 valid ID's you already have two. If you still doubt, you can ask for a copy of your voter's affidavit from the COMELEC in case you don't have your voter's ID. The application form will be provided by the bank itself upon applying.
