Actually, i never check my own blood type too but i know my blood type from my parents. They say that when i was born my blood already checked, so i guess your blood type could be already checked before. If you really dont know then i guess it better if you try to check it sometimes since its important. We nee to know it just in casa if we need blood donation from other or if we want to donate to other who really need them.

Yes, it is necessary to know your blood type. Another things is, those who have allergy is not the only one who can't donate, but also those who have history of malaria. Because if your blood has malaria history, the one who will use your blood will get infected, the malaria virus will activate and transfer to the person. Instead of healing, he will suffer malaria the moment he use your blood.

I already know what kind of blood when I was still eleven years old. I knew my blood type, because one time there were people coming from health department official to giving free syringes, but before the free syringes, our blood will be tested first and they told us what type of blood do we have?
I thought it was necessary to know our blood type. I don't know why and what the purposes of knowing our blood type were?

Who have said so? You may detect your blood group in any pathological laboratory and for your kind information, modern day schools always record the blood groups of the students. It does not matter in case of blood donation whether or not you have any allergy. So there is nothing to worry, go to any pathological laboratory or any blood donation camp and know your blood group immediately. It is no doubt a necessity.

Yeah it very important to know which type of blood do you have. Even though you can't donate your blood you may need to receive blood from others in some emergency situations. It will be helpful in those times.

It is necessary to know your blood type for health reasons. It is one of the most easiest laboratory procedure and the cheapest too. You can get your result in 5 minutes. Knowing your blood type will help you to know what are your possible blood donors in case that you need a blood transfusion though it is a standard protocol of the hospitals/laboratories to have the blood typing and cross-matching before a blood transfusion is performed.

I think it would be necessary to know it because we might need it sometimes if a family member might need it. At least you would know immediately whether you would matched and be able to donate blood to your family member's or relatives who might need blood.
I always forget what my blood type was. I have seen it in the result twice but I always tend to lose the copy and I have not thought about writing it down or keeping it somewhere

If you don't know your blood type or if you are unsure of it and would go along to a blood donation session, they will discuss any issues you may have, whether you have piercings, tattoos or infections, take a sample and type and match your blood, and send you the results.Or,you could talk about it with your Doctor who would have this info in your medical records...If there is some medical reason for your blood type to be checked in event of an operation or accident, the procedure would be repeated, but it does no harm knowing your type if the subject came up for any reason...My Sister's husband smokes, and It was news to me when I heard from him over this past weekend there would be issues for him as a result if he wanted to be an organ donor...

I think the importance of knowing your blood types comes incase you have a serious emergency cases like an accident and you have lost alot of blood. They can just get you a blood in the blood bank quickly without you having to go the blood matching test. This can save time and life sometimes.
