I don't want to go, and you can't make me!

I was supposed to go to see my primary care physician a couple of weeks ago and I rescheduled. I had a good excuse then. I had spent the Sunday prior in the emergency room in tremendous pain holding a vomit bucket and bemoaning the fact that humans had to have heads to survive(5 day migraine). So the next day I didn't feel bad about rescheduling. So I did for the next week. The day came and a I didn't want to go, and the night before I had taken leftover pills the ER had given me after another weekend of migraine madness. I really really didn't want to go. So I rescheduled for today. And once again today I rescheduled it again. I'm supposed to go next Monday and I'm going to go no matter what. It's no big deal. They'll run tests and I'm not afraid of needles (you can't be after being being used as a pin cushion for so long - I'm sure others know how that feels). I just do not want to go. I think I'd call myself a nincompoop. Yes, that's the right word.
Anyone else need to go somewhere and you just keep putting it off? Is it for a particular reason, or are you just a nincompoop like me?

I’m sorry you‘ve been suffering so much! I would not say you are a nincompoop because I do the same thing myself occasionally like the bowel cancer routine test I’ve putting off for weeks! They sent me the kit so I can do the test myself at home and I am still procrastinating! Having said that I do see the importance of such exams and I will get around to it in due course. I think it is best we both get on to these things and get them over and done, they are important as much as we don’t want to go through them! Hope you are feeling better...

No, it is a routine test that everyone over fifty gets to do for free if they choose to. It is a good thing in order to reduce cancer fatalities, it's just a matter of getting around to it!

My daughter canceled her doc appointment because she has no money for the copay. She fell In s hole in thR yard. The dog dug s hole and she fell into it which jarred her neck and spine. She can very walk. But I told her if she still huts when I get paid I will pay her copay for her.

From time to time I put off things and refuse to do things that I need to. I usually just say that I am a rebellious person.

Now there is a word you don't hear often: nincompoop. Love that word though. I put things off mostly because I am feeling lazy at that time. Actually I have been feeling lazy a LOT lately. My work schedule has been flipped upside down lately and in turn my sleep schedule has had the same effect. NOT fun at all. I am sure I will get back on track and get things done when they are supposed to be getting done eventually.

Sometimes I tend to delay things when me and some friends planned on meeting somewhere, and I have to reschedule it because there were other important things to do or sometimes my mom asked me to come with her somewhere. I prioritize my mom so everyone else needs to be rescheduled
Goodluck on the test and be brave for whatever it is you're going through.

YES, you nincompoop..just like me! JUST BECAUSE, sometimes I can't face the truth!
I spent the entire summer (from July 6th on--'til Sept.23rd) circumnavigating appointments for scans, & biopsies....until I got rebuffed by one receptionist(I SO deserved it) I kept cancelling appointments, until she gave me a "talking to"!
Don't get me wrong, she was a good soul...she finally called my son (as he is; on my file to contact in case of emergency)! THE TWO of them ganged up on me...my son took me to both biopsies, tissue and bone..CT scan! Then I kept dodging the bullet of the results...until my son was called again..and he literally accompanied me for the results. Wouldn't go myself! So you are NOT alone! But the cycle starts again in December...all the tests! WILL I comply...who knows..December isn't here yet....LOL! YOU are not alone, dear Ambie!

Is this visit for a check up? Because I haven't had one in years, even though we have good insurance, because I am blessed with good health. Though I really should make an appointment soon, because when my husband retires next year, my son and I will lose our insurance and I already am using the dental pretty heavily right now before that happens..

The only reason I hate going and put it off, is simply cause it is a half day ordeal. I arrive 5-10 minutes prior to my appointment time to fill out paper work or whatever.....and 1, 1/2 hours later, they call my name! Of course it is always blamed on the patients being late, but I don't believe that much. The waiting room is totally full of patients when I get there so obviously not many were late! But that is why I put office visits off.
I wouldn't call you that...I'd just say you are tired of the pain and the hassle and the concern. I've been there, done that too! I keep telling myself...just go and get it over with, but that doesn't work very often! Good luck toyou and hope you feel better!

so how did things go? Yeah we have times where we can't go to our appointments as well. Typically it's something else like work is going on or we had a bad snow storm and I don't want to trek out in it.

I just rescheduled some dental appointments for the kids. Scheduled them 6 months ago and forgot about them, then get a call today that they are for tomorrow morning. Considering they were set 6 months ago, you could at least give me a few days warning instead of less than 24 hours. Well, I had to cancel because I'm working tomorrow, and had to cancel the appointment for later this month for the other 3 kids becuase I'm working that day too. I can't make new appointments yet because they're scheduling for January now, but I don't know my schedule that far in advance.

hi dear Ambie, I dont like these checkups too much. Got to have one every three months because of the diabetes, means that blood glucose, blood pressure are checked and the usual tests run. I dont really want to but I need my meds so I got to go anyways as they are prescription stuff. Sooo off to the Doc somewhen in my week off in December.
