It is my humble opinion that it all started to crumble bit by bit when Will Peterson (Grissom) left the show. It broke my heart when Warrick was killed off. The season that Nick was in the box was horrible. I has sworn if they killed off Nick, I would quit watching the show!
I am a stickler for the originals, so I miss the original cast too!
I watch all of the csi variations, and wish they would just leave my people alone.

I think the show has evolved quite well considering how old it is and how many changes it has experienced. The fact that so many of the original cast are still on the show helps and is unique. I did enjoy both Langston and Wendy's characters and like Warrick think that they left the show too early. I do understand the fascination with the first seasons though, they seemed to have more humour, this was before they made Greg so serious and grown up, on the other hand Hodges still gives his usual witty comments (I wonder whatever happened to his board game). I am finding Ted Danson's DB Russell an interesting character, lets hope the show can survive Catherine leaving.

I watch the reruns ans the severaL CSIs are my favorite shows, but I also liked the change after so long a time. I donĀ“t like the shows to be totally predictable. This new character on charge has a funny side that Lngson did not have.

I also liked the old cast more than the cast in the moment. I`m almost not watching the new series, i don`t know i don`t like the new guys in the cast in the moment and it makes don`t want to see the show. I preffer to see the old series and maybe some of them that i haven`t seen for some reason or i have forgotten.

I share your sentiment. Even though I am hesitating to watch the new series, I cannot help but miss those characters that were are not featured on the show. After all, it was the characters who made me fall in love in the show. If I cannot relate to a character or to the cast, there would be no more substantial reason to tune and watch the show.
In fairness, all must come with change. A show will not survive if it keeps getting stale on its characters and its stories. People will get bored and abandon it. However, one also cannot help (for me, for instance) that the old gang of characters are certainly being missed.
I hate to compare and contrast but I involuntary do. I keep pinning impossible hopes but I always wish that the characters will live far beyond the episodes scripts. Perhaps that is the reason that I never get tired of watching reruns.
