whats the useful of Miss world and Miss universe contest for the world

It is one way on how to present or to show to the world each countries' culture, traditions, history and practices.

I also do not know, what is the purpose of beauty contest was held. I often hear, they served to introduce their respective countries.

I believe the usefulness is to promote the country where the contestant lives. Second, to the individuals itself as they will be famous and richer. Third? Hmmm, to gain money, of course, because if such contest exists then many people will find jobs from there (EO, travel agency, insurance company, etc).

It's supposed to be entertaining, not useful. It's like any other entertainment show or event - its usefulness is in giving people something to watch on TV or whatever.

Dont know about other country winners but for indian winner it is a great boon. All the Indian miss world and miss universe winners are now leading ladies of Indian film industry aka Bollywood. Take an example of Aishwarya Rai she won the title and immediately entered bollywood, Became the first Indian to be waxed at Madamme tussauds london.

any pageant representing each country showcases the true beauty of a woman. it's important is to give us hope and courage that even though life is miserable, we have this pageant who gives us something to be proud of.

They give me great pleasure to gaze upon such beauty. A beautiful woman is like a work of art. It has no value other than to enjoy looking at a painting yet it is treasured. A beautiful woman has even more value than a beautiful painting so we can be just happy to admire them.

I'm with you on this one...all it is is a contest between a bunch of makeup beautiful women, cause I'd be willing to bet that if you took away all their makeup..they'd look just like the rest of us! And what does how they look in a bikini have to do with how good person they are etc? I mean, there are some pretty fantastic women out there..that either are to large to look "good" in a bikini or just have more pride in themselves to not parade it around or both. I say it is just something for those that think they are so beautiful to do and know that the men are watching them!!! And the men watch...cause it is the only time they can star at near naked women...and their female counter-parts can't say anything! I thin the whole thing..Miss America, Miss World, Miss Universe...nothing but a joke, a useless waste of air time!

It's just an event that keeps people think about the contest and who will be the winner this year and forget about their problems. It's the same with the world cup. Yup it is entertainment only , however publisity has it benefits to create awareness about certain topic like environment or humanity cause in some poor countries and such.Imagine like if top footballers all over the world made a stand said no to Smoking and such , maybe youngsters will listen to their idol.I guess for miss world and such , perverts will listen to their cause.

Yes, i agree. Miss world or Miss universe contest are nothing but money making tool for the rich and sponsors. It's just a gimmick made up to earn money, making use of people who wants to be famous. Most of those winners have admitted to going through cosmetic surgery to make themselves look better. When winners are not of natural beauty, what's the point of picking a winner? It's more like a form of degrade for woman, who are desperate to be in the limelight.

it is only a reminder if anyone win a Miss World, then a reminder that we have to care for our world but if a Miss Universe, then a reminder that we have to care for everything especially world but if you analyze it, they are just the same reminder not to abuse the natural resources of our green planet. But i think the objective is just a yearly contest, just to unite all countries even for that event that happens once a year. Just like the oncoming Boxing Matches of Manny Pacquiao, it is only a sort of reminder that if you give your time and patience, determination to practice and even all of those giant opponents, nothing is impossible, and David and Goliath works, underestimates before the fight, Manny will only defeated them, and just to unite all of the countries for that hour only when there is a boxing matches whenever Manny fights.

These beauty contest make the world forget there's war to fight, there's hungry mouths to feed, there's economy that need to be perked up and so much more. These contests make us all giggle instead frown upon attacks on human rights and make us clap and be bewitched with the beautiful face rather than pick up the job and make money to survive hunger. I think commercial people do these contests to make us all forget and the government join them to make people forget how stupid they are on country's matters. These contest are big nonsense.
