living to a very old age

Growing old is inevitable. No matter what we do to retard aging, we will reach that age. I have seen lots of TV shows showing men and women living to very old age. In my opinion, if I were in their place I would choose to die than being on that age, where you cannot hear , remember and recognize anymore your relatives. If I am still very mobile, can hear , see , taste the foods and recognize my relatives well, then why not. However, if I will be burdening my family with taking care of me in my old age, I would opt to die . But then, only God knows what is best for us.

Even if i turn old, I will retain the usual me. If I listen to hiphop music when i was young, why can't I in my old age. Get an Ipod. Watch Youtube videos. Join social networking sites. Life does not stop when you grow old. Enjoy every minute of it.

How i wish we will be like that even in our old age. But it's inevitable that as we grow old, our bodies become frail and weak. Though, it will be that, our spirit will always be young.

if i were in their place i also choose to die. simplyd, you are right it is only god knows and will decide. in my opinion if we become older and older we have to live without any complaints, live happily don't criticize and finding fault with the young generation, then the live will not become horrible. have a nice day.

Rarely can you see old people who don't complain of some not nice things they see in young generation. But though they may be like that , they will be loved if they are kind. Though, it's depressing to think that we will be burdening them so much, if we live to the very old age, yet we are already bedridden.

I am totally agree with you, as long as we are still healthy and can support ourselves, so no problem about our age..., however, life is mystery...only God knows it..

That's true my friend. So, we always have to pray for God to help as we grow old and give us a graceful aging process.

I think we think that way now because we are still young and able to get around. But I do believe that when we reach that age, we will not want to just die. But I get the concept and I even say that now. But people are living longer and better lives today.

It's always nice to be always young at heart. Our bodies may be growing old, but we shall forever be young at heart.

I agree, my friend. People nowadays, live longer and healthier. With the awareness that this and that can cause this and that disease, people are more into what can make them healthier and live longer.

I don't like to live to a very old age, in fact, my target is just 60's but as you've said only God knows until when our lives will last. And if I reached that very old age and I am sickly and a burden then I will voluntarily suggest to my children to take me into a home-for-the-aged institution without any hurt feelings. I will totally understand them.

i agree with you. if i am in my old age but is incapable of taking care of my family then i would also opt to die. i do not want to add up to my family's hindrance to enjoy their career because i am their priority. the pain seeing them burdened because they have to take care of me would feel double. but on the other side if i am able at a very high age then i would love to live and see all my grandchildren grow and have their own family. it's a case to case situation. but like you said, it's really up to the Heavenly Father if He wills us to live.

I too wouldn't like to be a burden to my family. For as long as I have command of my mental faculties, I would choose to go on living, independently if possible. While I'm still capable, I would work hard to ensure that I could live my life when I retire, and I wouldn't be a burden to anybody.

We have always been proud of ourselves, providing for the family. Hence any eventuality that would make us dependent to somebody for us to survive, would really be so downhearted for us. But then, i just really hope and pray when that happens, God will make a way for us to be provided well, because He knows we have been good children of His after all.

Personally I don't want to live in a very old age where in people will tend to all of personal hygiene. It would be better to die when i see to it that my purpose in life was fulfilled. We had a long lineage within my fathers side in which many had reached the age of 80-90 years old before dying.

wow, 80-90? That's a very old age indeed! Were they still mobile and not senile when they were still on that age and living?

You remember me to my mom. My mom is always talking about that she won't to the ancient age that she will die soon, that she doesn't wants to reach that age, where she is going to need help to do all her neccessities, and she can't even recognize us,but I keep telling her that is she is not going to die soon and that we need her alive, and her grandson and grand daugther need her. So please don't think like that you will always have a person that will help with love when you get old.

Yes, we will have someone to take care of us in our old age. But it is better that at this early , they would know if they come to the point of deciding to put us further in a respirator or to just let us die naturally, if ever this happens.

Right now, I don't know I am just enjoying every moment of my life I don't want to think about the future. Aging? No no no! Out of my vocabulary for now. I know we can deny that someday we'll be going there, so why don't we just cross the bridge when we get there? I think that's a better idea. Enjoy life, live life to the fullest! Do not put stress on yourself thinking about the aging future.

I think you are too young to be thinking of that. Only us, older people thinks of that , as early as now. Besides, it's a wish that is known to your love ones only, so in case that happens they will know what was my wish.

I've read that some scientist believe that growing old is an illness, which for me is not gullible. It is a life process, your body just wear , we are not made to live forever physically. Yes god made us like that. We can still have a good healthy life until we die that we know.

Yes, i do believe in what you do believe, my friend. It is the natural process of our body and we cannot defy it. We may retard looking old, but our body will eventually give up.

Hi, You are right. Old age is inevitable for everyone. Everyone wants to remain healthy till the end. But it is not in our hand. No one wants to trouble anyone in old age but we are helpless. My parents are also very old and unable to do many things and they feel very sad that they are giving trouble to us. but we all family members are decided to take care of them turn by turn. You are right. God knows what is beast for us.

Much as we want not to bother our children in our old age, they have to because no one will. Let's just say, it's just our own way of expressing our gratitude , for them raising us up and giving us the necessary education, so we also have to take care of them in their old age.
