World War 1 ended on 11/11

I was researching something totally unrelated to today being 11/11/11, but came across the information that World War 1 ended on November 11, 1918. I knew about the 1918, but hadn't known it ended on 11/11. I am now assuming this is why Veteran's Day is on November 11. I could google it or something to find out for sure, and maybe I'll get around to doing that. I don't know if they observed a Veteran's Day previous to that date. Did you know WW1 ended on Nov 11?

Yes, the end of WWI is why we observe Veteran's Day on Nov 11th. Once upon a time at 11am on Nov 11th , everyone would observe a moment of silence.

Yes, 11-11-11. I wasn't aware that World War 1 ended November, 11, 1918. How interesting. ALot of interesting things have come out about this date. Many pregnant women worked with their doctors to have their child on this date. SOme even at 11 o'clock. Interesting what people will do.

I like numbers! I was born 5/5/55. I've never thought of the number 5 as particularly lucky or anything.. but my family felt they should throw me a surprise birthday party when I turned 55 on 5/5/2010, so I guess that was lucky! I see the number 55 a lot.. and other doubles too. Addresses, etc, but especially on clocks, it's always something :55 o'clock, or other double.. sometimes at very fitting moments.

Are you into numerology then? When I was married to my ex his birthday was in 1961, mine was 1951 and my daughter was 1971. Then when my granddaughter was born it was 1951, 1961, 1971, and 1991. I just turned 60!

I've long since forgotten the date WWI ended but I always honor Veterans' Day. My grandfather fought in the battle of the Argonne Forest, an experience that haunted him the rest of his life. War is full of horrors that good men should not have to endure. When they do, they deserve our respect and every honor we can give them.

Wow i have to say you really brought some cool information to the front of my mind. I really didn't connect the dots on this, you really focus on the wars and when they started and of course why. but you don't associate the ending of them with such specifics. Cool I kind of want to peek in some old history books to compare info start to finish. ha ha ha

For me it is not the way you calculate the end of the world but totally need to know the reason that the Armageddon came when you don't know the time and hour just like a thief.
