Anyone here from Philippines who's working in Makati? Do you believe that Makati is the best place to work in our country? What do you think are the advantages of working in Makati? How bout disadvantages, can you think of any? For me Makati is really a nice place to work in but I can't compare Makati that much to other places since I have never work in another place other than Makati.

The only times I went to Makati is to hangout, attend seminars or for a job interview :P
I never really got a chance to work in Makati but based from my experience going there for seminars, the traffic and crowd is way crazy! MRT stations are always packed with people. I live in QC area so if my seminar is in Ayala, instead of Riding the MRT going to North EDSA, I'd ride one going to Taft, wait for a while and do a roundtrip :P That saves me the hassle of joining the crowd :D
It's also a bit difficult to hail taxis especially during rush hours :D Because of those reasons, as much as possible, I avoid Makati areas. Lol! but Makati's a great place. I love their malls and restaurants. I miss Banapple the most!

It's in Ayala Triangle. Their cakes are tasty and cheap! Their food servings' quite a lot that if you're not much of an eater, one meal can satisfy 2 people I always order their chicken pie as take out for my mom. She loves them a lot

Yeah the traffic in Makati is crazy! especially around Ayala during rush hours. Around 6-8PM If you will go from Edsa to Taft Avenue via Ayala Avenue (which I think is only around 2 kilometers long) sometimes you will have to spend around 1 to 1 and half hours to reach Taft Avenue. Good thing I work in the office where the office hours for morning shift is just until 3 PM so I don't usually encounter such a heavy traffic. By the way where is Banapple located? I haven't heard of that resto is it in Greenbelt?

well I work in makati, at first I wasso amazed with the place, its like the New York of our country but I'm getting tired of it. You know wearing corporate clothes, then I have to drive through 3 different cities before I get there,The apartments there were kind of expensive so I live in near by city. That city is not safe at night, I had been robbed there before on my way to the nearest ministop branch, thankfully I have a martial art background or that damn ^&%$&& might have killed me., I work in the night shift so I dont get to enjoy the malls and other hang out places in Makati.

oh you are probably working in a call center, right? I agree that apartments in Makati and even places near Makati are quite expensive. Too bad you are working in the night shift because enjoying those nice malls and gimmick spots are kind of like the incentive in working in Makati. You said you're getting tired of it. Are you considering working in other place maybe near your home?

I'm considering to buy a house, make it into an apartment, quit my job and have a lazy but luxurious life as a landlord. Landlords and landladies are making money without effort.

yeah owning an apartment especially in Makati is a good source of "big" income. You're like a mylotter with more than a thousand referrals, you are earning while sleeping.

I have worked in Makati, when i was just training for my first job. Also , i was there when i was trained to become an officer of our company in my earlier jobs.
It's indeed a nice place to work, because the place is really very beautiful. You are surrounded with lots of tall buildings and malls. But other than that, i still prefer working here in the province.
It's nice to work in Makati, if your place of work is just a walking distance from there. If not, it would be hell commuting to and from your place. It's the travel time actually that is draining. It's also nice to work there if your salary is high paying and would be more than for your expense. if not, well better work in a place near your home.

You are lucky that your house is just near Makati, philly. You don't have to pay so much for fare, nor spend so much in travelling. In addition you don't have to pay for rent or for your housing and you can simply just contribute to the expenses at home.
That way, you can truly enjoy your job in Makati and savor the nice ambiance of your job there.

Yeah I am, indeed, lucky because there are many people who wants to work in Makati but don't have the opportunity while others just can't because it's not practical for them because they live far from Makati. But there are still some good opportunity outside Makati.

HI simplyd
Makati is indeed a beautiful place and a nice place to work in and you have that feeling that you are really working in an office environment because you are surrounded by all these buildings of big companies. Good thing is I live near Makati, not walking distance though, and our office hours is different from the regular office hours so I seldom experience the trouble of being stuck in a heavy traffic during rush hour.

Its nice to work in Makati because its the business central of the Philippines. Lots of opportunities here if you are looking for a job.
MRT s*cks! haha! the last time I rode in it, my left arm hurt a little because it got stuck for minutes. Its hard to move when its so crowded inside the train.

I agree that MRT is such a headache for those who use it regularly but I am lucky I live near Makati so I don't need to endure the hassle of riding the MRT. But I can say that overall Makati is still the best even with this problem in the traffic condition.

I've worked for 3 different call center companies in Makati and I agree that traffic is the main disadvantage in working there. Plus if you are commuting, you have to walk going to your place of work because of the loading and unloading point. For me, that could be both an advantage and a disadvantage. Advantage because that is an exercise but disadvantage if you are already late for work. :)

Yeah it's annoying when you are already late but you can't just get off the bus anywhere because you need to wait until the bus reach the unloading zone which is quite far from one another so if your office is located in between the unloading zones you really have to walk for a couple of minutes, the intention of this rule is good but they should at least add some more loading and unloading zone so it would not cause so much trouble for the commuters.

I worked in Makati before and I can say it's one of the best place to work. For me nothing can compare to the opportunities and ambiance of Makati. As we all know Makati is the business hub of the Philippines and no doubt about that. You can Philippine Stock Exchange, main offices of the largest banks, largest food chains, fabulous malls, and many others.

I agree the ambiance of Makati is really good and there are lots of job opportunities. Most of the top companies in the Philippines is located in Makati.

I have worked in makati. But i kind of resigned from there because i live a few more mrt stations away from the said location. it is a good place to work, very accessible, but traffic is very heavy too. That is why i do no enjoy my time there and i had to always be in a hurry.
Its a good location for work for people in the south area or within the vicinity but add about 30 minutes more of travel time if there are no traffic, then i think it is not healthy anymore.
When i worked there, i am always tired. I am easily tired because of the heat, of the trouble i had to go through in the mrt station and the long wait hours before i could get a ride. It would take me total of 3 hours for travel time everyday to and from work. it stresses me out! imagine 2/3 of my time is spent out of home =(

hi chiyosan
I can imagine the trouble you need to endure in MRT during rush hours. I am lucky that I live near Makati so I didn't have to huddle with so many people just to ride MRT but once I experienced that when I went to Trinoma after hanging out in Greenbelt after work. It is crazy and annoying and I don't have the patience to wait for so long so I just decided to ride a taxi but of course in your case you can't always ride a taxi everyday for practical reasons because you will spend so much money if you will do that.

I used to work in Makati, but that was a long time ago. Then our office transferred in Pasig, Ortigas. Makati is really nice, but it's so far from my home. Ortigas is also a nice place to work, it's like a little makati, plus it's nearer from my home.

hi Neriz
I agree that Ortigas is also a nice place to work because most of the new companies now choose Ortigas because of the notorious traffic of Makati and this past few years many commercial establishments and office buildings are emerging in Ortigas. I can say Ortigas is next to Makati.

I have worked in Makati for just 3 days but compare to Ortigas, I think Makati is a lot better, one for its cleanliness and two, for its discipline.

I haven't worked in Makati but I had gone there. It's really a nice place. One of my sons works there and I guess he likes working there. I can't also compare whether it's nice working there or not because I work in Mindanao. As to the beauty of the place, well Makati is the best. I stay in Quezon City whenever I am in Metro Manila.

Yeah Makati is a really nice place but I think the problem is there is just too many people working in Makati now that it cause so much problem in the traffic condition of the city especially in the Makati Central Business District. But despite that problem I still love working in Makati.

I don't have anything bad to say about Makati but it is quite inconvenience for me to work there when I can get the same line of work in Quezon city. The only issue I have with Makati is the traffic and their traffic rules, I ride a motorcyle and as much as possible, I never pass makati. The traffic officers there are like officers from hell based on my experience.
@phillyguy (3005)

I can understand you on that issue. Makati is really strict in implementing it's traffic rules they even have their own traffic force and not rely on MMDA for traffic management but what's funny is despite being strict in their traffic rules the traffic condition in Makati has not improve that much especially during rush hours.

Makati isn't a bad choice when it comes to finding a job as they do offer many. But if you say the best place to work - for practical reasons - you may consider some place else. If you reside within the area, then I would personally suggest you go for it! But if not, the expenses of living (fare, food, etc2) is way to much for a lifestyle. Consider CEBU, less traffic, less expenses with regards daily living. And I've heard they offer good paying jobs.

I live near Makati so it works for me, but I can understand your view of working in Makati. It is true that when you work in Makati your lifestyle will change in a way for a lot of reasons. I've heard that CEBU is okay but if you are from Manila I believe it is not that practical too because you will compromise a lot of things in your life one example is the fact that you are living away from your Family.
