New teenage trend??!!

November 15, 2011 9:50am CST
So I have recently stumbled upon the information of where teens are soaking there tampons in vodka and than "plugging them in" to get drunk faster!! Guys are doing the same only in a different "way". I find this quite appalling. In a few years these young girls are going to have some major infections. What is everyone's opinions to it? I think the teenage brain needs to be studied a bit more.

This only confirms my belief that parents are paying less attention to exactly what their kids are doing & who they are doing it with. Of course it's also true that parents can't watch their children all of the time & teenagers being teenagers are going to do what they want when they want regardless of what they've been taught. That being said it's sad that instead of teenagers getting smarter as time goes by they just get more dumb & do even more stupid things. I know because I was once the same stupid teenager. They don't realize that someday whether they want to admit it or not our Mothers will turn out right. We will regret many of the dumb things we did, things that we can never take back, things that we will have to live with for the rest of our lives. I have so many regrets that I wish now that I had listened to my Mother more because she really did know what she was talking about.

I really don't know as we can blame the parents for not catching this one. Truthfully, I'm a parent and I do keep my eyes and ears open to hear about these things. Until reading this discussion, I had not heard of this. I wouldn't even think to question my daughter or suspect anything with her tampons. I just asked her about this and she has heard of it and assured me that she'd never tried it nor would she. I would hope not!

You really cant blame parents for everything. The best thing you could do is talk to them about it and hope they listen. I have three daughters 10,8,8 and it scares me to know some of things they are already finding out from other peers around them. The best thing we can do though is talk to them and tell them the consequences of the bad things in life. I keep a very good eye on them and I truly believe they are comfortable with coming to me with questions, now in 4-6 years from now, i hope it will be the same.

Teenagers are unintelligent, just leave it at that. I'm a teen myself and also see people around me doing stupid things. What many don't realize is that you only have one life to live, and just one mistake can take it away from you. Like all teens I also have thoughts of doing stupid things as well, but I try to look at the consequences of them before I do them. My parents are also pretty strict and keep me under control. As for what you just mentioned, I don't understand that at all other than maybe that getting drunk is a "cool" thing to do. And in teenagers minds, cool really means stupid.

I have heard the same thing, it's crazy really how can that really make them drunker faster? That's unsanitary to say the least. Teens seem to think that they know the in/outs of allot of things but this takes the cake for stupidity in my opinion.

Oh my goodness! I havent heard of such a thing. For some reason Im not surprised though. Thats the problem, teens dont think about the long tern affects of some of the stupid things they choose to do :-(

Is this true? Man, it sounds so nasty. I was watching the news the other day, and I heard that kids are downing liquid soap or something like that now. This isn't healthy either. I wonder who got this idea or came up with it. Man, just nasty.

Now that's disgusting! I have never heard of this before but it actually doesn't surprise me. Youths these days will do anything for a quick buzz no matter how stupid. M-cat (also called meow meow) is the new crazy around here. Dear oh dear, chemicals up every orifice!

during my teens, i was more on books..and reading..and going out with friends for a movie and never ones did such radical staff. Teens nowadays are very radical and sometimes we do not know how their minds are wired.. and from what you said that is pretty scary. I will indeed watch out for my daughter and sons more

What! Are you serious? I have never heard of this trend before? What are teens these days thinking?! How does that even get you drunker? That is so disturbing! Doesn't tampons like explode and expand when in contact with liquid? why would you pop it up in there? Ar guys even desperate to even do that? What has become of teenagers these days. I'm still a teenager and I would never get drunk, why are some teens so desperate to get drunk anyway? Can't you just wait until you've developed some brains and control your drinking when you're an adult? Each generation is getting worse each year, kids are simply growing up too fast. I remember from a research that teens tend to take more risks, even though faced with consequences from the risks they keep doing it because they don't learn. Adults however have developed brains which know between what's good and bad. Teens these days can have pretty funny ideas...

This is indeed more than appalling I'd say, I don't know what's making them to get drunk faster, it's really obnoxious to see how teenagers are behaving these days and more and more teenagers are following the trends, I don't know what's responsible for this, but certainly our society needs to give a due importance and stop teenagers from ruining their lives.
