Do people really go shopping at 1 AM on Black Friday?

I just got my work schedule for next week and of course I have to work on Black Friday. My shift starts at 8:30 pm on Thanksgiving and ends at 4:30 AM on Friday. This got me thinking...how many people actually go out at those times to shop? I don't ever go out on Black Friday because I enjoy sleeping and I have no desire to be in crazy crowds of people. I was just wondering if many people really do go out shopping during those hours. I want to get an idea of how busy the store will be and what it'll be like because I'm sort of dreading it.

I think VS is one of those well known and relatively expensive brands that people would really go just to get big discounts. And I think the store is expecting this too. So having longer hours would welcome people that do shop at 1 AM. After university, and when I was just starting my career, I used to grocery shop at 12 midnight. I found it easier on my schedule, and shorter line up at the till.

That's interesting that they don't have any sale. And yes I'm sure people would still flock and buy. They would get into the spirit and wouldn't realize that they are not getting any discounts. I wish you luck that night! And hopefully not too many unruly shoppers.

The funny thing is, VS doesn't need to have a sale to attract buyers. There's no special deals we're offering on Black Friday and I bet people will still come to the store. The only major sales we ever have are the semi annual sales. I'm sure it's really convenient to shop at that time and I bet there's no lines. Unfortunately, our grocery stores aren't open that late. Plus, I'm asleep before 12 anyways lol

I have never shopped at 1am on Black Friday. I would rather sleep too. I have gone shopping a couple of times on the morning of Black Friday though and got some good deals but it was probably around 8 or 9am. Years ago my neighbor would get up very early to be at the stores by 3 or 4am on Black Friday to get the good deals on their children's toys for Christmas. He would do that every year until they got older.

Not me going to shop at 1 A.M. though. I am not that crazy or shopaholic like others. I will not camp out of the store to wait for it to open around 5:00 A.M. that just not me. I probably get up around 5:00 A.M. and my friend and I will drive around best buy or microcenter to look for our favorite electronics.

I think these extreme hours on Black Friday are crazy. I'm glad I'm no longer in a retail mall. I used to manage a Hallmark store in a mall and all the stores had to the same hours. It's insane to make the retail clerks and managers work in the middle of the night or the wee small hours of the morning. If we all stayed home, maybe they would stop this nonsense. The only ones that might benefit are those who work swing shift and are getting off work then, but they would most likely be home for Thanksgiving anyway. It's bad enough that Christmas has been so commercialized, but now they are beginning to ruin Thanksgiving, as well. . You have my sympathy for having to work all night on Thanksgiving night. Please let us know how many shoppers you get on that shift.

I think it's ridiculous to make people work those hours. But of course the stores and managers won't stop Black Friday because they make a ton of money. And people won't stop going out to shop either, but it's very wishful thinking. Now I won't be able to relax and after enjoying a nice Thanksgiving. Hopefully I'll be able to stay awake that long, I normally go to bed pretty early lol.
