My mom and i shares the same sentiment,everyday..
A day or two will pass without us pooping.
Honestly it is not easy,we always drink tea everyday hoping it will help us increase our metabolism. We had plenty of water and vegetable too.
With these case we don't eat much to avoid stomachache.
Do you think drinking coffee has something to do with it??
They say papaya will be helpful but papaya don't bear fruit whole year round.
Do you mind sharing us what you think is best?? :-D

drinking green tea does increase metabolism and so is eating spicy food. They are also great antioxidants. Don't forget to exercise as well.

Increasing metabolism may not increase your pooping pattern. But spicy foods and green tea do have a small effect.. not enough to write home about.. but it does have a little effect.

Yes, eating lots of fruits and vegetables helps in our metabolism. But we should couple it also with lots of water and lots of movements. Your body should be well exercised. It doesn't mean always exercising in the real sense of the word, but it means you always stay active, always moving.
Fruits specially when taken in many quantities, like eating lots of ponkans and then drinking water after, can surely help with metabolism.

Oh that is not good if you do not poop everyday. You should check what you eat so you would be able to assess what helps you. Increase your fruit intake and try to have fruits everyday.
Also, you might want to have a cup of green tea everyday as it also helps you in digestion. A cup of tea always helps me feel better about my tummy. =)

I can understand the feeling of having that kind of concern. I have it from time to time especially if I'm stressed out. When this happens, I drink at least 8 -10 glasses a day where 2 glasses upon waking up and 2 glasses before bedtime. I also try to refrain from eating meat products. As part of my fluid intake, I make a concoction of lemon juice with honey and sprinkle with cayenne powder. I drink this 'special juice' before every meal time. It has a detoxifying effects and aids in the regularity of 'the morning activity'. I always do that whenever I have that kind of difficulty. It's helpful to me because I'm not taking any pharmaceuticals for this kind of problem. I think it will also work with you and your mom.
If I may also suggest, do the detoxifying regularly, like every month so that you won't pile up the toxins in your body.
Eating more fruits and vegetables is very beneficial too.
Good luck.

Oh, I did not know that they are using it. I only found this out in the net and tried it. It works for me and so I continued using it. :-)
I do this for health maintenance using natural ingredients because I am trying to be vegetarian after the bouts of that BM problems I had before.
I'm not particular of whoever is promoting it as long as it works for me.

Hi janevi you "special juice" is what Naomi Campbell uses. I think I seen it before in Oprah where she shows her daily gym routine. She would drink that kind of concoction to detoxify her body =) and hydrate her body.
Nice your using a models "special juice"

They say that eating ripe papaya fruit will help you move the rate of your bowel movement faster. However, it is better that you consult a real doscton in cases that involve your health. Also, you may want to try over the counter medicine but of course there are some side-effect on that.

that's actually the bad thing about papaya since it's a tropical fruit. you really can't have them year round or if you want you can buy them in the supermarket at a price 5 times more than its regular price during its season.

In order for you to increase your metabolism, you exercise everyday. That is the best way I know. People exercise not just to have a good body but also to increase their metabolism. Have a healthy lifestyle!

Coffee is not the problem. Make sure your diet includes fiber and prune juice. Also a little excersise might help.
So nice that you and your mom can share this wonderful experience. Even more wonderful, the fact that you can write about it on mylot.

One glass of water ten minutes before every meal helps digestion better. Regular walks in the evening would also help. Eat a balanced diet rich in fibre p rotein and carbohydrates in proper proportion and avoid fried stuff. Be physically active and do not diet .The most important of all is to have one whole glass of warm milk just before going to bed.

My dear this topic of yours is very timely. I don't mean to scare you but I just wanna share this to you so that you can seriously consider doing something really effective to avoid serious sickness.
Do you know that a just few hours ago, the wife of my nephew underwent immediate surgery after she was diagnosed of 3rd stage Colon Cancer. She has the same history as yours. She has been having this irregular vowel movement but did not have any symptoms that Cancer is already developing in her Colon. By the way she is very fond of meat and those barbecued foods and processed meats such as hotdog, hams and the likes. It is only this month that her stomach started aching. At first the doctor said it is could be just UTI, then after ultrasound it was discovered she has kidney stones and so she underwent surgery to remove those stones but after few days her stomach keep aching so went through series of test and there and then was she discovered to have the big C. So the doctors decided to remove the tumor and it took some 5 hours this morning before the surgery was completed.
If you have been irregular it's about time you change your diet. Go on vegetable and fruit diet and drink plenty of water. You can eat white meat once in a while but red meat you have to totally stop.
Now this one is a must. You should take virgin coconut oil, one tablespoonful at least 3 times a day then take lots of green leafy vegetables such as malunggay but make sure you don't overcook your vegetables lest you kill the nutrients in it.
I have an office mate who solved her long timeirregular vowel by using this method. Now if you have problem with the taste of virgin coconut oil I will recommend one brand which is really the best tasting virgin coconut oil I've ever tasted and this can be bought in almost all SM Hypermarket. I used to take Carica Virgin Coconut Oil but lately I noticed the taste has turned quite rancid so I tried this Peter Paul Certified Organic Virgin Coconut Oil and I immediately liked the taste. I posted a photo of which for you to see.
My dear it's up to you to follow this advice or not but surely if you do you will do yourself a big, big favor.

Drinking lots of water and making sure that your diet contains lots of fibre is a good idea. In addition to this, it would be good for you to adopt a more active lifestyle, as this can help greatly with your metabolism. Even if you just go out for an extra walk every day it can be a good thing. However it is quite normal to go for a couple of days without pooping so don't worry about that. If you have any pain alongside it, though, then you should probably go and see a doctor about it as there might be something that they can do about it.

I honestly hope it won't be a typhoon sweetie.
Okay, leave today, but do try to take a walk in the morning okay.
As soon as you get up, drink 2 glasses of water, do all you need to do and walk at least 3 o 4 kilometers a morning.
It's really not that bad.
You can have tea and breakfast when you get back home again.

Hi tamirs! Dear that's my problem too And I eat papaya to help me with pooping! Drinking tea has a different effect on me. So I could not actually think of anything else better than papaya fruit. I have read before that those fiber rich fruits can help but I have never tried observing its effect yet as I relied so much on papaya.

Yes, papaya does help. But you can also try other fiber rich foods like oatmeal, apple(the skin contains most of the fiber, and sweet potato. Be sure to drink lots of water or any fluid. Ive tried this diet, and it really works for me. Hope it works for you too.,

If both of you are the same then this may be normal for the two of you. Some people have a bm same time every day, some may have a bm in the morning, some may go each night. Some may go twice a day, some every two days.
As most have said, exercise is possibly the key, it's also a good habit to get into. The other thing you MUST do is drink more water.

I went to a natural foods store here and found some papaya pills that really did seem to help. Unfortunately, my roommate liked them so much that she took them with her when she moved out last month. It did help relieve some of the gas and bloating that I had been experiencing. I'm sure using the real fruit works best, but I think the pills would help as well. I just hope I can afford to buy them again soon!

They say to add more fruits, vegetables and fiber (also lettuce salads). Plus to drink a glass of water with your meals (8 oz.) At least 6 glasses of water per day. Eating a fiber cereal in the morning, such as bran flakes, bran, 40% bran flakes also helps. Prunes help many. I like dried fruit like apricots, which helps.
Good luck to you.

As long as you increase you water intake and also your fruits, vegetables and fiber intake, you should do good.
Prunes I have to eat a little at a time or I end up with the diarrhea. So one has to be careful until there body gets use to the changes in the food they are eating.

I would think a cup of strong coffee, once a day should do the trick. It does for most people.

I didn't realize your bowels were tied to metabolism. I am always trying to raise my metabolism and I try and eat a lot of fiber. However, I guess I don't get enough because sometimes I go two or three days inbetween. I eat a lot of highfiber bars, but I have just read that all they really do is give you gas. I am currently bleeding and I think I will try prunes. I have never tried papaya, but as you said they wouldn't be available all of the time anyway.
