After seeing the Youtube videos from Pinoy Monkey Pride, it seems to made my mind change. So after that, I became more serious into knowing what really happened back in Marcos' regime. So, I asked one of my "old" friend who actually lived during those days and he said that those days (under Marcos) was way much better tan it is today! Have you seen the videos by PinoyMonkeyPride? If not yet, you can watch it from tese links: http://youtu.be/gevTmyWtHVo http://youtu.be/VikoHKuEzng Please tell me what you can say about those stories/issues and make this a "constructive" discussion.

Actually, I saw the video a couple of days ago and I'm pretty convinced that it's really stating facts especially that Freedom of Information is of P-Noy's least priority. I was able to passed by Hacienda Luisita and it's a huge land. I don't know why it wasn't still distributed to the farmers. I sympathized them a lot. They were forced to wait for ten years, but up until now the land's not yet given to them.

I recently read a past news article where during Cory's campaign, she PROMISED to give it back to the rightful owners. But unfortunately, she lied. Also, Pnoy used to be an ally of PGMA, he even voted NOT to play the "Hello Garci tapes". But a few days later after that vote, PGMA still decided to plan on doing something about the Hacienda Luisita and the Aquinos dropped their support for her. It is sad that so many lives (even priests!) are lost because of that piece of land!

Hello damned_Idle, The Past is in the past my friend. We can never go back there now, even a my-lotter also praises his regime. but we can't deny the fact that he made terrible and grave mistakes regarding the abuse of the people during his regime. Sad that there are still Illiterate out there are being used by powerful clans and still there is. but we can't dwell on the past and must try to strive to help the country for a better future in our generation.. Changing the mindset is the answer, but that's gonna take a while.

But we must learn from the past in order to have a better future. If we don't learn from the past, then we will just keep on making the wrong decisions in the future.

Marcos is not as people think about. He is bad in eye of the people because of his political opponent. They tried everything to make his image bad until today. But the truth was only Marcos is the best President of the Republic of the Philippines...He is called the strongman of Asia and be proud of that because those Asian countries respect us...today Filipino seems a second class ordinary human being. What happen to our country today. Unending political wars and corruption side by side...

What we most know about Marcos came from the books that people say were edited and did not really tell much about him. But from people who lived during his time, majority say that he and wife had done so many things to improve the country - structures, bridges, no food shortage, etc. He may have ruled with an iron hand but there were more good things he has achieved than his successors (I think with the exception of Ramos). Well, just sharing my opinion. Cheers!

basically, this is your opinion and of others. As a person, I respect that. I wan;t born in the Martial Law era so my judgement is heavily reliant on opinion of otehr people, history books and some generalizations on my part. Even to this day, tehy are some points that I will concede to the former President. However, there will also be people who will disagree with you and they have their own reasons and evidences to back it up. So technically, we really can't place Marcos as either super evil tyrant or savior. It's history and it will never be black or white. we can go on a debate and still won't come up with a concrete identity for him. The only thing that I can say is that if you belive in soemthing, stick with it. But don't close your mind to the opinions of other. Interesting video, by the way.

I am a martial law baby. I remember my parents told me dollar rate is 1USD - 6 Php. During Marcos term, He saw development and obvious progress of the Philippines, We never import rice instead we are the number 1 exporter of rice, copra and abaca. WE have been far more better than any Asian countries. Thailand parliament even studied in the Philippines, They studied in our International Rice Research Institute. But look at them now, we are already behind their progress. In fact presently we imported rice from Thailand and Vietnam. Marcos Regime I should say is not bad after all.

I do not think so, they were ruled with iron fist and many did suffer from their administration. Although, yes, the money was not that big but it was as big as what was happening right now. Our economy was so down during those times that it was really hard to make a decent living. In our present day I think our lives have improved and yes there is still poverty but we have moved far from what we have during the martial law. I can say that the start of the Marcos regime was pretty okay but when they stayed there for 20 long years everything went down already.

Well, that is your opinion my friend and i respect that. But i have lived during those years and all i can say is, everyone is so afraid of martial Law. You cannot even give your opinion about them, lest you will be caught and incarcerated just like all those political prisoners he had imprisoned. And the culmination, was when he had Ninoy Aquino gunned down.

But if you watched the videos (real or not) There are facts to prove that FM actually is PROTECTING Ninoy.. Political killings are still rampant today no matter who the President is.

Evidence or no evidence, Marcos was a dictator. He is responsible for a lot of political killings. One of those major political foes was Ninoy .

Hello damned_dle I think I don't need to see the video to comment on this. I asked my mom what she feels in the past when Marcos was still the President of our country. And what she says was it was much much better. There are no crimes, if there was any, it cannot be compared to how many it is now. Look at what's happening to our country now. It has become worst and even our leaders are becoming useless, everyone's having power and is not afraid to kill. During Marcos' time no one can dictate him on what he has to do, that may be the reason they tried really hard to put his regime down.
