So I went to Mc Donalds the other day and I was not to hungry so I thought I would just get a Happy Meal. Well they sure have made some changes in that little box. Some really LITTLE changes. Every Happy Meal comes with a package of fruit (usually apple slices). Also, the fries are a total of 1.1 oz. The cup for fries now fits about 6 fries in there. I know that kids need to watch what they eat and they are trying to help but I mean you would think they would at least give the parents an option to what you put i your Happy Meal. Well, I guess this could be seen from both directions. Have you got a Happy Meal lately for you or a child? (Within the last few days) If so, what do you think about it? Happy Mylotting!

One day, I actually did order one because I can't eat much at a time. I got fries instead of fruit and there was a good amount of them. I gave the toy away.

Wow, maybe they changed the amount. What I got was a super small container of maybe 10 total fries. Or it could vary by region.

Hi 13tyates, I actually met a friend the other day at Mcdonalds after she picked her child up from school, and I saw just what the Happy Meal has become. It's just as you've said, the portion sizes are so cut-back that it's almost ridiculous the amount of money that they charge for it. I also agree with everyone else, I think it's a little over the top that they now cut the fries portion in half and force you to take the apple slices. I mean I understand they are trying to be more healthy, but this is just too much - these happy meals are nothing like I remember and certainly nothing for kids to feel "happy" about in my opinion.

Sorry about the delay in posting back. Yeah, you seem to have been as amazed as me when I saw just how small the fry potion was. I found it completely crazy. I would have never been happy as a kid going to McDonald's and seeing what they had done. I definitely think they should have lowered the price for the little amount you get.

We have not gotten one that recently my youngest is starting to prefer a chicken sandwich now over the Happy Meals. I don't like that they are skimping on the fries though. There are those people that complain about the Happy Meals being unhealthy and I really wish those people would mind their own business. If they don't want their kids to have that food then don't bring them to McDonalds as for me I don't see a problem with treating my kids to some McDonalds once or twice a month, not one of my kids is over weight. If kids are getting fat on fast food it is because the parents are too lazy to cook, it's not the fast food places fault.

Well, now that I am older I would take a chicken sandwich over a Happy Meal so I see she has good taste. Yeah, I mean people should just not complain about it all. If they want to not have kids eating it then do not take their own kids and stay out of other peoples business. I also feel that it can be a great treat a couple times a month. I guess it is just people always wanting to control others even though it is none of their business.

Well, I can't say that I've purchased a happy meal in a while. However, my husband did buy a happy meal, mainly for the toy to give to our newborn daughter. Granted she won't be using it anytime soon, but he still wanted to get her something. So, that's why he got a happy meal.

I hardly ever purchase Happy Meals also, if that is where I am going and I am not very hungry I will usually just get a Happy Meal. I know a lot of people that will just get it for the toy. I really do like seeing what kind of new toy they will put in the HappyMeals. Some pretty neat ones have been in there over the years.

I've seen happy meals recently and seriously they're so small you practically need a magnifying glass to see them! They aren't doing it because of health concerns, that's bull. They're doing it so they can charge you more for a small amount of food. It's honestly a rip off. When I started getting a little older, my dad would buy the toys if he could and then just buy a bunch of stuff off the dollar menu for me and my siblings. We got to eat more so we had no complaints.

I am glad you see it the same way I am seeing it here. I mean those things are seriously small. If you did not want to have fattening food then you do not go to McDonalds. I see it as a treat if your on a diet or something and they take the treat out of it. I had also wondered if maybe they are just trying to cut costs for them and still charge the same amount. That would be right up McDonald's ally I suppose.

Hey now, it is always okay to go with your grandma and have a day out. No matter what age you will always be her grand daughter. But yeah, any way I think it really does suck what it has become. It's crazy!

I haven't had one recently but the last time I bought one, even though there were options of having fruit/carrot sticks instead of fries, they just put fries in anyway. I think it's good if they automatically come with fruit. Saying that, I suppose people go to McDonald's for a treat and most decent parents would give proper food to their kids the rest of the time. Personally, I think it's a good thing to put fruit in. Sometimes kids will eat it because it's there. And I don't think I'm the only parent whose only reason for going to McD's is because it's cheap. It's nice that you don't have to throw chips/fries at your kids just because you want cheap fast food.

I see your point there because I guess it is good that they are taking the initiative to attempt to help kids be more healthy. I think when you go to McDonalds that is not what your going for. Like you said its more of a "treat" so to speak and maybe they are trying to push it to much. I guess over all the fact that they are giving them to them is a good thing. I do not think I would have downsized the fries. I mean they are VERY small. Well, I guess they made their decision. All else fails buy a dollar menu fry and put it with it. Happy Mylotting!

oh i missed happy meals. i used to collect a lot of happy meal toys and i would even buy daily to collect especially when it was the dalmatian, and the hello kitty toys. :D they are so cute. recently though i find the toys not so great anymore so i lost interest in the mcdonald's happy meals. hehe :D If ever i see some good ones, i guess i would not mind buying happy meals again. :D

I remember when I was a kid I used to like to see what kind of toy I would get each time I got one. It was not always that I got to so it was fun when I got the chance. Now days I just get a Happy Meal when I am not very hungry and want something lite. With the changes they have made they are REALLY going lite now!

You are lucky where ever you are. The McDonalds we have in our area are almost always packed with people. It is not one fo the peoples favorite places to go here because it is so busy. These new Happy Meals did not really help the situation for me. Glad to hear you like it though. You are lucky to have such a great one! Happy Mylotting!

I agree, when they gave you a choice at least you could feel like you were not being forced into eating a certain thing. Of course what does that matter they will just do what they want. I have a feeling this will not last long and they will go back to how it used to be.

Yes, it is a sad day when they decide to try and make people healthy when you know very well you are going to a place that is not healthy. Oh well, guess they will do what they want.

The last time I bought a happy meal was when my brother was really young and we're collecting those snoopy toys Now I wonder where those toys are Everything's really very expensive now. 5 years ago I remember me and my friend used to go to McDonalds even when we don't have much money with us we can eat a full meal. But now I find it a bit expensive eating all those we meals now. Plus I think the burger becomes a bit smaller too.

I remember when I used to love collecting those little toys. Always a lot of fun when I was a kid. Those were pretty good times! I agree, everything has progressively gotten more expensive. I wish everything was a little less expensive. It seems like all the food gets smaller and all the prices go up! I see something wrong with this equation!

I had purchased a Happy Meal a few times when I was a kid. But then I realized it was a rip off and they just charge you for the toy which is not even good enough. It has been more than 10 years I guess I haven't purchased. Maybe one day my kids will want it. LOL

You have not missed much in those ten years that you did not buy a Happy Meal, I can tell you that much. They just keep making everything smaller and smaller, while the price just keeps going up. Which I guess that is the same for about any company or business selling something to the public. Just the way it is anymore.

The last time I got a happy meal from McDonald's was about a month ago and it was entirely for me! Happy Meals don't even leave me satisfied anymore because there is practically no content in them and everything is like mini sized. Full grown adults can't even enjoy Happy Meals because the're so small in quantity so next time I go to McDonald's I'm going to have to order 3 or 4 HM's!

Back a few months ago I think they still had it where you got the little bit larger fries, now its even worse. So with it being a rip off then it is a really big rip off now. I agree, you could just not eat anything and it would be no difference than eating a Happy Meal. Once you order more then one you could just order off the dollar menu and get it cheaper. Everything seems to be a rip off these days.
