When will I learn not to respond to topics that get deleted here. I am here since the last two years and I still get some of my responses deleted because the topics were a guidelines violation! I give up I say. I simply cannot come out clean. How about you? Are you in the same boat as I am?

Shhht! It's been almost a month since I didn't receive any notification for response deleted. I try to stay away from discussion that seem to be violation of the guidelines but I can't "see" all the violations.
The last discussion in which I participated and ended up deleted was at the end of October. Who could think the discussion "my friends are my business..."
(if you remember this topic) was going to be deleted?

That's it uni. The world will end may be but I will never get the hang of these wonderful guidelines of myLot! The consolation however is there are many here who think they know the rules and yet........
A month is passed you say and you have not received any notifications. That's called achievement. Keep it up!

I wouldn't call it achievement. I would rather call it energy conservation. Why would I spend my time participating into a discussion I know for sure it will be deleted?
What are you saying there, Suny? Did you have a discussion and I was not there? (it probably was deleted before I saw the notification in my email box)

I have seen some discussions on here that have made me wonder as to why they got deleted. I do try to go by the guidelines very strictly and I always try to never duplicate and discussions. I think one of the hardest guidelines for me is to make sure that my discussion isn't asking for a yes or no...like a poll kind of discussion. I had a very popular discussion deleted once because of the way I worded the title I think. I haven't had anymore problems so far...but like I said..there are some discussions that I have answered and it was deleted that I wasn't sure why. Maybe if you ask admin they can tell you what's going on if you have had a lot of trouble with it.
Take care and please don't give up....I enjoy your discussions very much.

Consolation far beyond my expectations and with users so openly coming out with their confessions what more can one ask?

At least your headline should give some compensation for losing the money. Really good one!
I´m sure people will want to know what it´s all abot. And yeah, we are in the same boat - once in a while my responses - and discussions - have been deleted and I have sometimes no idea why the discussion was deleted..
Well, maybe we all learn what kind of discussions we should respond to and start!
Have a great day..

You hit the nail on the head. You are right. I also do not know why a discussion is deleted and I always thought I was smart!

Well, not exactly. I mean I did start a couple of discussions that were deleted. And I am sorry that my friends responded. But I do respond knowing fully well that my response will be deleted. It is my laziness actually. I come to say hi to all my friends. I cant be going thru everybody's discussions due to time constraints. So randomly I get into such discussions, and let my friend know he or she is still on my friends list. :)

yes i also can not control when i see topics and those topics will be easy to respond also, but at last it all gets deleted.
i also read the guidelines ,the do's are less and the dont's are more in number.
After reading i could not get an idea to start any discussion as i got lost in the guidelines ,i thought for a while what is really left to discuss if we follow those guidelines, but still we are doing such topics .

I don't think the situation is that bad uma. Most of the time I wade through but I feel very uncomfortable when I receive those notifications. I think I know the rules. It is a nice feeling though that there are so many here who are in the same boat as I!

Yep in the same boat, except I have been here a lot longer, 5 years.. Sometimes I know when something is going to get deleted, but I still want to say something, but when I reply and it got past me that it was against the guidelines, I am shocked that I fell for another bad post.. But it happens, I try, but it happens.

I know I have gotten my share of responses and discussions deleted as well. It's hard to pass by something that looks like something that is easy to respond to. Or something where you didn't put in enough details to make it not looks like a one word response.

living me with a teensy amou nt left for half a days wo rk. How
could I ha ve missed so many . well two Iknew I wou ld lose as I was tryingv to help a newcomer to realize she cou ld not make a discussion on goalposts like birthdays or reaching a certaind number of points, but the otherw were all surprises tp me. so
I go back and reread the guidelines but not being able to look at the discussions again obviously I could not pinpoint the broken rules.sob tears sob a lot of effort wasted

Hi Allknowing, don't worry, i am also in the same boat as you. Although i had been here for more than 3 years but still some of my responses seems got deleted for violating Mylot's rules. But, i don't mind, since we are here to learn and share about many new and interesting topics. So, hope you won't be sad about it anymore. It is not a big matter to us, as long we are always thinking the positive way. Lets continue actively participating in Mylot, whenever we are free. Happy posting to you....

Luck did you say? I thought it was all about mugging guidelines. I have had well over 800 formulas for my Chemistry exam in my college which were on my finger tips but myLot rules just evade me!

It happens, allknowing. To every member, at one time or the other.
For me, most of the time, I replied knowing full well it is going to be deleted. I informed the member that the discussion will be deleted and asked that he/she reads the guidelines. I don't mind doing that. I'm looking at it as my small service to myLot.
Then there are those discussions that I think are alright, but still get deleted. Just take it in stride.

zralte - you seem to have having views similar to that of mine. I put the rule 80-20. 20% may be deleted. If we do with that idea then no bad feelings.
One reason why we respond -- to encourage our friend. that satisfaction is got. further no problems.
@ravisivan (14079)

Yes. I also sail in the same boat as that of yours. But I do not mind about it. If the response is deleted we lose probably earning for one response only where the person who has started the discussion may lose many points -- for all the reply comments he has given.
Today also I saw a topic being deleted. Pl do not bother but continue to respond as hitherto. have a nice day.

Ofcourse I will continue to respond but when I think that I have carefully chosen topics that follow guidelines and then my response gets deleted I start to wonder! I think I am clever enough to know where there is a guidelines violation but now I have started doubting my cleverness!

allknowing -- may know all that is going to happen !!
I am also in the same situation. Nowadays I post keeping in mind that 80% of what I post only will be accepted and 20% may be deleted for various reasons.
Once we accept like that we will not have tension. Some members are very choosy in marking + but are liberal in marking ! and that may be a reason it happens like this.
have a good day.

You have to accept the fact that not having any of your discussions or responses deleted once do not make you a true breed of mylot community. Only after going through the baptism of fire that we are made stronger and be able to face all the challenges that comes our way. Sure it is a bitter pill to swallow when we get notifications after notifications when we accidentally stepped on mylot landmines but that should not deter us from going on. The spirit of mylot should be within us and not to feel demoralized when things don't favour us.

Here's a new box of Kleenex! Into each life a little rain must fall (and it is coming down in sheets, here!)
I am sorry, but I am having just a little giggle...you know, misery loves company, so I don't feel alone in my chagrin!
My last week has been my biggest downfall, here! Some, I knew I was stepping into murky waters...other's just blindsided me!
One good thing has come out of it all...cause to re-read the "rules & regs." again, almost to the point that I can recite them...LOL! So am sharing a tear with you!

Nothing is perfect and can't be so just go on..
Don't get frustrated when your comments or responses or discussions gets deleted..

thanks for the topic..

It is not the question of not caring. It is like a student who thinks that he/she has done all the homework but the teacher points out that there is still homework to be done and that feeling is what I don't like.
