I have been to bohol last month. There were lots of good places to visit too as well. I find some of them amusing but there were some annoying people that really takes advantage on tourist. That's the usual. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my stay and the people are amazing. They remind of the probinsyana in me. :)

I had went to Bohol once (around 3 1/2 years ago) and I agree that there are several good places to visit. Due to limited time that we had, we managed to visit the already-usual Chocolate Hills, the Baclayon Church (one of the oldest they say), and the area where Tarsiers are kept (I cannot remember the name). It so happened that we visit there on Black Saturday, and what I struck the most is their own celebration of Easter Vigil on one of the local churches. Here in the metro, we normally celebrate it within 2-2 1/2 hours. Their celebration took an almost 5-hour marathon (I remember they started it at around 9 pm and concluded at around past 1:30 am) and they celebrated it with joyous performances and complete Bible readings (from 1st to 7th reading) with Salubong (or re-enactment of Christ's resurrection) in the end.
Aside from that, the white sand beaches and very clear green and blue waters complements the beauty of the island. Somehow, we managed to learn a few local dialect words (they have the same language as in Cebu) such as mabanhaw for mabuhay, usa - one , duha - two and diri/dinhi - here.

I do complement their simplicity and great approach. I admire the way they talk too. Like changing the sound of H into J... I miss Bohol, maybe I can visit the place again. :)
I love Bojol! ^__^

Yeah, I can attest to that. Their simple ways of living already reflects the typical countryside traits that are common nowadays in the provinces. If I have only the time and budget :P, I will visit Bohol again, as part of my itinerary again in Central Visayas.
Speaking of the way they talk, I remember one conversation on our visit there - wherein they actually can understand multiple languages:
P1: Magkano ang kandila ninyo? (How much is you candle?)
P2: Cinco? (Five?)
P1: Ah, limang piso. (Oh, 5 pesos)
P2: Ha? (After 5 seconds) Ay naintindihan ko na, tagalog pala ung lima.. cinco kasi tawag namin (What? Oh, I understand now, lima is a Tagalog word, we call it here as cinco)
There's a bit of gap, but I really got it that they can adapt to the one they talked into. :)

I am from way down south, in northern Mindanao. I have some friends in that island and I also heard a lot of nice things about the place.
Maybe, I would go there someday, but my first preference if given the chance to get away is to be at some place in the wilderness and to be one with the wild beauty of nature and not with the easy going style of urban life.
