One day a friend of mine of a different color rescued a child about 2 years old who ran out in the street. She took the child back home. Then one of her friends asked her if it was a child of color. It just so happened it was. The friend said good because if it was a child of another color I wouldn't have bothered to rescue the child.
Can you imagine that, what can be going through these people's minds, we are talking about a little 2 year old, regardless of the color.

Oh that is so racist.
No matter what color they are, children are the most innocent and pure human beings on earth.
They should not be reduced and divided according to the color of their skin, heck no one should be.
Kuddos to your friend for helping the child.

A 2 year old is an innocent one that needs to be rescued if in danger. It doesn't matter what color the little girl or little boy is. Each child has feelings and each child deserves to be saved.
When I was a primary school one day I was off sick. I went back to school a couple of days later and heard terrible news. A little boy in my class had been walking home from school along the side walk with his ball. He had rushed into the road without looking to make sure traffic wasn't coming to get his ball. A car hit him and badly injured him. He went by ambulance to hospital but had to be transferred to a a bigger hospital which had space in its intensive care unit. For months he stayed in a serious condition and his parents were told it was likely he was going to die of his severe injuries. Amazingly he did get better and he is now a grown up man.

you are a very kind hearted person and that person is bitter and unworthy of your friendship. Jesus said, let the children come to me. for such is the Kingdom of God. Mark 10:14. he sure didnt say only the children of a certain color.

I think we're already on a good way though. The worst has passed if you asked me and we're going up. It's sad that this still happens but I think we're so color mixed lately that some day each and every soul will be partly this, partly that, not of a certain color. Maybe that will be the day no child, adult or elder will be judged as such.

it would be so nice when the day comes that nobody judges anyone else anymore

Wow! That is truly a very hateful thing to say, and it shows the woman's character. It reflects her value system. You aren't worthy unless you are the right color. How sad is that?

I feel all children in the world regardless of their gender, caste, color, creed or status, need equal love, attention and care. Kids with their innocence, carefree attitude and smiles light up the whole world.
And, people with divisive agendas, criminal mentality and lacking in compassion who don't care or are indifferent to God's gift to humanity just prove that they are lacking in morals, values and kindness. Such negative tendencies need to be discouraged by saner elements in the civil society.

Personally this is the problem these days. Too often people do not stop and think about people as people. They want to distinguish too much between color, race, etc. It is sad that it has had to come to this. When it comes to protecting a child especially it should not matter. We are all gods children, and he chose to make us all different colors, but in his image. Who should we be to argue it?

What kind of an attitude is that? Like you said, children are children. I hope the offender was soundly blasted for the racist comment. Were I the recipient of such a comment, I'd never talk to that person again, and if anyone asked me why, I'd have no problem sharing the story, as you just did.

I think my friend said to her friend it didn't matter what color the child was, a child is a child.

No to them the child is an " other" To these bigots the "Other " does not matter. They are less than. Which is sad because with this statement means they have so little inside to make them feel special they have to rely on their skin color. hile the rest of us Know we all ate people and color does not matter , to them Only their color matters. so while the rest of us move forward they will be left behind. I pity them because before they know it , they will have nothing while the rest of us will have everything.

Here it is nearly 2012 and people are still so bigetted. It is apauling! A child of color is just as cute as any other. They are humans too! It is as if gays and people of color are some other species in these people's eyes or something. I think it is sick, revolting and depressing to hear of this.

This really makes me feel sad. I dont understand why people cant just not be biased. That too about a child, who knows nothing but innocence. I wonder what your would have done if it was her child and someone said/did something like that.

You are correct winterose. No child should be left to die just because of their color or race. That is just crazy to think that. But their are hundreds of thousands of people with those views. If they weren't the world be a better place to live.
