Jail right before Thanksgiving...sorry sister :(

So yesterday we gathered at my sisters house for Thanksgiving with my dad and my mom. My sister had called me ahead of time and told me that her husband was pretty busted up from having a 4-wheeler accident on Tuesday night but that she would tell me more about it when I got there. So we got out there, and he had 9 staples in his head and road rash to his face. I asked her what happened and she just looked at me. It was one of those "do you really want to know looks". She said they had been drinking and having a bon fire at their house and Buddy went and jumped on the 4-wheeler to go ride around the block. Well, he got down to the neighbors and she saw him lose control of the ATV. All she could see was the 4-wheeler on top of him and him not moving. She jumped on hers and rode down there jumped off and pulled it off of him. He was in a pile of blood from his head being cut open. SO she called 911 because he is OUT. She said he was snoring and unconscious. So when the cops got there...guess what! They took her to jail because she had driving her 4-wheeler down there to him. They gave her a DWI. She had to stay in jail for 5 hours and this was her first time. I feel bad for her because that goes on her record and she was just trying to render aid. It would have taken her longer to walk or run down there than ride the 4-wheeler. But I guess thats life.

Yeah, and if she had walked or run, they would have cited her for public intoxication. That's sad. Sometimes you just can't win for losing. Next time, if there is a next time, she'd be advised to call 911 and scoot.

That's true. I'm hoping that there isn't a next time but IM sure if there is she'll do it differently. But yes, it does suck for her. I got so tickled at her when she told daddy. Shes fixing to turn 32 and she was bawling when she had to tell daddy 'cuz she knew he was going to chew her butt out LOL. I'm just happy that no one was seriously injured.

Hello Jenna.. I am sorry to hear that.. It was real bad for your sister... I hope her hubby is fine now... Driving after drinking isn't good. But I understand her sole intention was to save her husband and the drive mustn't have been more than 10 min... I am sorry to hear that... take care..

yea.. the drive took less than 5 minutes... where if she'd walked probably closer to 10 or so. I'm thankful that no one was seriously hurt. Other than him having staples and her pulling muscles picking the 4-wheeler up. Poor thing, she only weighs probably 110 lbs LOL. I'm sure she learned her lesson though..at least I hope to hell she did

Well, I guess in some ways it makes sense what they did, but because her husband was laying in a pile of blood with the ATV on him, what was she supposed to do? Just watch and wait after calling 911 hoping he would be OK? Personally I think she did what any loving wife would do, and never think about any consequences as well. I think overall it is a tough call if this is right, but in this situation I feel they could have acted differently for sure.

That is a bad situation to be in, but she did break the law. It is illegal to ride a lawn mower if you are drinking and you can be arrested in your own front yard. I know that it is hard to accept that these kinds of things are really our own fault, but they are. She should have just walked down or she should have called 911. The police were probably figuring that there could have been two injured instead of one. Thankfully for her, she was not injured and he is still alive. My husband's cousin was killed in his own front yard by riding a 4 wheeler while intoxicated. Sad fact, but truthful!

Dear Jenna, What an awful thing to happen to your sister! I am so sorry! She was just trying to be a supportive spouse. Maybe her husband needs help for his drinking. It is a miracle that she or her husband were not killed.

She was definitely trying to be a supportive spouse. Had it happened to me, I probably would have done the same thing truthfully. I would have jumped on the first thing I saw that would get me there the fastest. And yes, I think he needs MAJOR help with his drinking but he wont get it and she wont MAKE him get it which irritates the crap out of me. I'm scare that one of these days, the drinkings gonna get really bad and somethings going to happen to her. To bad she doesn't listen to us though.

I did get them and thank you very much! I've added them to my cook book. Originally, we were gonna do Thanksgiving at the house with just the kids but we decided to go to my sisters so I only had to cook 2 things LOL BUT I saved the recipes for next time! It gets crazy here on the holidays too, however its at the lakes and not the ocean LOL. Lots of people just get out there all day and drink it up. It's crazy! We refuse to go to the lakes around the holidays because of the stupidity of some people
