Why does everyone like the Roman Empire so much? Why do you?

Oh that's hard?
First I would like to go to ancient rome during the first five Julio-Claudian rulers. That seemed like a time of prosper, decline, and rejoice.
Second. Anytime during the medieval times. I like reading about the crusades. And I'm currently studying 14th century france. It's part of my SCA persona.

I don't know why but I am really fascinated by the earliest human civilizations. I think I am reincarnated from a cavewoman and maybe didn't complete my time :P
I would love to go back to the earliest human times - witnessing the first interactions between people, maybe understand how communication came about or how fire was discovered :)

There isn't any place in time you would like to check out?

I would go back to when the Indians first settled in America. My Papa Joe (who is now deceased) who is very dear to me was Iroquois Indian, I would love to live among them and see the way they lived in tepees and all. I find the American Indians fascinating and I am proud to be part American Indian.

I would go back to the early fifties in America and watch Elvis at his best in concert. Well, not just Elvis but that would be my prime preoccupation. I would go back and see all the great American 50s acts at their prime.... Oh don't get me started....

Amen to that! They worked really hard, but what they worked for was theirs. And even though they lived far apart, there was a stronger sense of community. I loved those books. Did you ever read any of the Mandie books by Lois Gladys Leppard (I think that's how you spell it.)?

Wow, this is a great discussion idea! There are so many periods of history that I would love to go back in time for! I think that each era of our history has so many great things about it, and negative at that. I think it would be hard to choose just one because every single time period has been so influential on our world!
